History of Class of '24 We entered high school in the fall of 1920 with a bunch of thirty-three green Freshies. Our class officers chosen for the first semester were Kathryn Ellis, president, Bernice Richison, vice-president, Helen Gor- der, secretaryg Franklin Murfin, treasurer, Dorothy Wright, class re- porter, and Miss Gilmore, class advisor. Second semester officers were, Clair Hillman, Herbert Ambler, Dorothy Wright, Arthur Dunn and Hel- en Gorder. We enjoyed a number of good times during this year, including par- ties and picnics. Some of these were at the homes of the students, while others were in the gymnasium. We ended our Freshman year with an enjoyable outing a few miles east of Union, Nebraska, along the Missouri River. Our Sophomore year opened with the same enrollment, thirty-three. Class officers for the first semester were Franklin Murfin, Lyal Flem- ing and Helen Morse. Miss Smith, our English teacher, was chosen as sponsor. Second semester olfficers, were Helen Morse, Clair Hillman, Beatriece Richison and Herbert Ambler. During this year we had several social events, consisting of parties at the Towle and Wright homes, and a wiener roast in Baker's Grove. We were entertained at a St. Patrick party at the Baker home. We con- cluded this year with a picnic at Cedar Creek. We welcomed four new members, George Boyce, Eldon Mendenhall, Alma Christofferson and Lloyd Leyda, at the beginning of our Junior year. Our enrollment then totaled thirty-five. Class officers for the first semester were Edgar Cole, Franklin Murfin, Clara Rhodes, Beulah Little, and Miss Smith, Class advisor. For the second semester, Clair Hillman, Lawrence Gilmore, Helen G rder and Beulah Little. We purchased our pennant in our class colors of purple and white during the year. On April 18 and 19th, our class play, At the End of the Rainbow, was given. We gave a banquet for the Seniors, May 18th. We had several parties in the gymnasium, and cne each at the Baker and Elgaard homes during the year. We also had a picnic a few miles west of town. Four members joined us from Avoca in our Senior year. Mr. Witte and Miss Cerny were chosen as class sponsorsg Herbert Ambler, Frank- lin Murfin, Dorothy Wright and Helen Gorder as class officers. This year was a very busy one. We had parties in the Little and Morse homes. Now we are ready to graduate, a class of thirty-seven members, the largest that has ever graduated from Weeping Water. We shall ever have pleasant memories of our school days.
