Future secretaries, under her guidance, gain practical experience and prepare themselves for gainful em- ployment. ' Sedan! HOME ECONOMICS DEPARTMENT MRS. D. W. FOSTER B. S. , East Carolina College The art of homemaking includes many fields of study as young ladies prepare themselves for the most im- portant career of all. Cooking, sew- ing, keeping the department clean, and planning meals are all in a week's work. Mrs. Foster trains the girls to become the best of future homemakers. AGRICULTURE DEPARTMENT MR. R. W. Cl-IAMBLISS B.S., Southwestern, La. Future farmers learn the scientific methods of crop produc- tion. In seed beds of their own they raise seedlings for trans- planting. Working with tools and making furniture and other objects, they learn to be handy around the farm. Repairing farm machinery becomes second nature to well-trained boys. The whole program is directed toward more profitable agri- cultural practice.

Besides his work as principal, Mr. Morrisette teaches American history in the high school. With maps and textbook he guides the eleventh grade stu- dents through their American heritage from Columbus PHYSICAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT MR. W. M. HOOPER A. B. , Atlantic Christian College Physical education, business math- ematics, and civics are all in the day's teaching experiences for Mr. Hooper. He coaches football, both girls' and boys' basketball, and baseball. Thus, he helps guide the students in develop- ing physically and mentally. Q I if pals f .r 1' ,. af-1 MRS. W. T. MANN East C arolina College New laboratory equipment, installed in the spring, has made scientific study more interesting for Mrs. Mann and her students. Mrs. Reid directs music for all high school or grade programs requiring music. The Christmas program, the spring operetta, and commencement music are special programs under her direction be- sides the routine public-school music and glee club work. MU SIC DEPARTMENT MRS. BILLIE REID B. A. , Furman University PIANO MRS. VERTIE M. PERRY A. B. , Meredith College Piano pupils from all grades receive their train- ing from Mrs. Perry. Students with this training are always helpful with chapel programs and in church work, giving benefit of a talent which is also a pleasure to themselves. BRIGHT A.B. , East Carolina College Through literature courses and library usage students be- come familiar with the classics, as well as the moderns. Correct usage of the native tongue and a knowledge of con- versational French are included in the Language Department. Student librarians make it possible for the library to serve the high school and the seventh and eighth grades.
