How do you keep the dedication of a yearbook a secret from its advisor? This is the question that confronted us when we decided to dedicate the 1962 Zenith to Mr, Allen Schichtel. Needless to say, we succeeded, although it was a difficult task. Completely unaware of this tribute, Mr. Schichtel has devotedly given his time and efforts to work with us throughout the year, his invaluable advice and encouragement the very nucleus of the Zenith. It would be totally unnecessary to list his accomplish- ments and qualifications, for as every senior knows, Mr. Schichtel is a man of unlimited intellectual faculties as well as a master of sophisticated wit. As head of the English Department, Mr. Schichtel holds the respect of all at Weehawken High School; hence, we feel it a privilege to have for a teacher this man, who, by his own example, has instilled in us a thirst for knowledge, one of the most valued possessions that we might acquire. With the exceptional ability to reach into the heart of his subject, extract the essence, and convey it to his students, Mr. Schichtel effectively simplified the English course, making it both stimulating and pleasureable. It is with appreciation and admiration that we proudly speak for the class of 1962 in dedicating the 1962 Zenith to Mr. Allen Schichtel.
