The school has definitely seen improvement in all three fields this year. Congress was organized, the Senate under Vice President Nancy Blumer, and the House under Speaker Ezio Leonardi, who deserves recognition for his dynamic leadership, One of the first acts of Congress was to recognize by law President Skvorak's suggestion that teachers be admitted free to all school activities. This was later ap- proved by the classes. By studying the Constitution, Skvorak discovered that several powers of Congress had been usurped by the Cabinet. The restoration of these to Congress has given it new vitality. As a result, more legislation has been enacted than in many previous years. A Student Court has been put into action and the Hall Patrol has reduced traffic fatalities in the upper corridor. An important Constitutional Amendment provides for Congressional elec- tions at midyear. Removed from routine chores like locker inspections, the President's Cabinet has concentrated on larger matters. One innovation this year was the Tea Dance idea. Four of these were held in place of assemblies. The kids enjoyed dancing in the gym for an hour, with plenty of refreshments at hand. Arrangements were made for a professional photographer to cover the operetta, The Sunbonnet Girl, the Junior Prom and the Senior play, in addition to the usual Students' Day, when students took over classes, a 'Dress-as-you-like Day wasinitiated, Some people like strange things! ln general, this has been a memorable year for student govemment and those who worked hard in it hope this is only the beginning. Jack Skvorak Nancy Blumer
