Besides coaching sports, both of these teachers have found enough time and energy to advise the class of 1984 for the past two years. We would like to thank them, now, for without their help, our Junior Prom would not have been a reality. So, it is with much appreciation that we dedicate this yearbook to them. 6 SOME PAST FACES 7 Mr. Reagon hiking in Black Canyon in Colorado (1981) In Memory of RICHARD T. McGHEE Born July 14, 1965 Died April 12, 1981 8 Three years since you've been gone, But the memory of you will always live on. It seems like only yesterday that we saw you last; Smiling and so full of life. We can remember your laughter and the fears you faced. We can remember your craziness and your tears. We can and will remember you forever here. Rich, you are a part of the class of 84, Mo matter how long time goes on. You’re in our hearts and in our souls. You’re a part of us that we will never let go. God wanted you with Him and we have tried to understand why? But now all we can do is keep your memory alive. Rich, in all the years to come, We can only hope and pray that you’ll remember how Much we love you and that you will always be a part of the Class of 84. — Debbie Mugler — TURN THE PAGE May 14, 1983 Stephanie Carroll and Brian Furey being crowned King and Queen, (left) King Brian and Queen Stephanie dancing the last dance of the night, (right) 12 Junior Prom Mike Worthington and Sheila Thrapp dance the night away. SENIOR HIGH BAND The Webutuck Drama Club presents A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE At the end of March, 1983, an American Classic came to the Webutuck stage. Under the watchful guidance of Mr. Ron Perry, Tennessee Williams’ A Streetcar Mamed Desire came alive for two nights of large appreciative audiences. The tragic play coaxed out many never-feltbefore emotions from the young cast, and a tribute goes to them all for carrying it off so well. Many thanks go to Mr. David Reagon for helping design a magnificent set. The play was involved in an area dramatic competition, and Keith Kupferer went on to win two outstanding awards for his portrayal of Stanley Kowalski. As a whole, the production will be long remembered. The Cast: Keith Kupferer — Stanley Kowalski Kelly Adams — Blance DuBois Cheryl Hulst — Stella Kowalski Jim Clark — Harold Mitchell Leigh Ann Butts — Eunice Hubbell Paul Meyer — Steve Hubbell Brad Price — Pablo Gonzales Tyler Fenn — A Young Collector Betsy Erskine — Nurse Chris Bryant — Doctor Sandy Taylor playing the piccolo. Lindsay Webutuck Pride The 1983-84 Sports Season has consisted of talented, dedicated and high-spirited athletes, who have made their coaches and fans proud of the ac- complishments throughout the year. Whether it be a winning team posting an 11-7 record, or a team winn- ing less than five games; every team has something in common, and that is the determination and drive to do their best. Webutuck takes pride in the athletes it has produc- ed, and will continue, with an excellent coaching staff to strive for excellence. The next fourteen pages, will not only be memories of the past, but everlasting pride in the future. 99 100 RISE UP GATHER ’ROUND, KNOCK THIS PLACE TO THE GROUND The Varsity Volleyball team sought to ac- complish a place in the Bi-Valley Conference, that would suggest that they weren't playing around, but that the Webutuck team, was interested in severe contention. For Coach Chris Berg, it was the best season she ever coached; winning eleven games, and losing on- ly seven. There was no monkey business; just hard nosed practices, which led to the defeat of top 101 contending teams like the Arlington and Tuchahoe squads. The Volleyball team improved immensely, showing that every member on the team had the ability to spike. Kelley Ashman. Kelly Ahearn, Missy McDonald, and most experienc- ed player Eileen Bradley, were the teams most devastating spikers, while Coleen Bradley controlled the sets, and Robin Dean, Patty Gordon, and Jean Bilquin, showed complete hus- tle. The team's most consistent server was Yvonne Moss. Every member on the team should be commended for the hard work, dedication, and competitive drive, instilled by an excellent coach. 102 Eight Who Dared 103 Players of the Sky, Who Dwell in Hoop Heaven It could not be said that the Warriors are Webutucks “Phi Slama Jama , but they can most proudly proclaim that they are the men of the sky! Dr Jimmy Jim Fisher led the team with style in the sky. while Jerome Parker blocked some mean shots on the fly. The speed of Ted Moody is seen whizzing to the basket, and the rebounds of Keith Moody (for his foes), are pret- ty drastic The Sugar Seal , managed at every game he played, to open up the Webutuck team in scoring, as Slick. Stevie Waite (having a career high of 27 against Haldane), and quick Greg Shooty Babbit kept the team soaring. Then there was Gary Burke, who at times made the other team shirk. All in all. this team acted as they were the best, jamming a 17 4 record; making themselves nearly as good as the rest. 105 Webutucks “Offspring” The Hoopsters Continued... 107 You’re Cornin’ Along! r V CAPTAINS — Row 1: Denise Cahill and Linda Maloney. Row 2: Brigitte Grom. Row 3: Pamela Adrian. Kimberly Ball. Mae Savage. Junior Varsity Cheerleaders Virginia Santarsiero and Veronica Santarsiero KEEFE’S KICK Coach Ron Keefe, now in his fourth season of coaching, helped improve his team and their record, winning over seven games. It was a combination of new talent — Webutuck's genuine south of the border player forward Dave Bassuk. scoring nine goals this season, contributing style, skill, speed. The old talent consisted of veteran speed star Tom Stauffacher setting the offensive pace, while defensive goalie Brian Watkins put his “money” where his body was. saving many goals and games. “Slick Quick Stevie Waite and “scoring machine Teddy Moody were the department of raw talent. Rookies Greg “Shooty Babbett (a Merwin minuteman sensation). Brad “The Bruiser Price, and Gary Burke gained respect during the season. However, in all perspective, the names mentioned above are not what made the soccer team. They are just a few talented players that helped produce some wins. The rest comes from an effort that only a team can accomplish — going to the sectionals and winn- ing in the first round. STICK-IN TO IT Despite last year's hurrahs about the end of the four season drought that Coach Lisa Swem and her Field Hockey team experienced, they managed to stick to the ethic of winning. The team did not win enough games to make it to the sectionals, but they proved to other teams that this season's team was going to be tough! The leaders of the field were, once again, veteran Senior Alicia Sartori, who played an of- fense that devastated her opposition and Cheryl Hulst, who sparked the team with surprising plays. Sweeper Betsy Erskine provided defense that halted the stick of Pine Plains stars Nancy Sweeny and the Johnson girls. The team demonstrated leadership, spirit, and a competitive drive that came from an excellent coach. GYMNASIUM Webutuck’s “Offspring” Les Rookies The Webutuck Junior Varsity Coaching staff, and its teams prepare themselves year in and year out to be able to perform their skills, so that one day these young athletes will have the opportunity to be the stars of future Varsity teams. s Basketball season at Webutuck wouldn’t be complete without the spirit and pep of the cheerleaders. A lot of hard work goes into their performances during games. Cheerleaders are advised by Ms. Fran Arceri.
