DEDICATION We, the graduating class of Webutuck Central School, dedicate the first issue of ENSEMBLE to the Townspeople of North East andAmenia, whose foresight has been manifested in the formation of our central school district, in the construction of Webutuck Cen- tral School, and in the establishment of an improved educational atmosphere. 2 ix ■• V ... • . k .j •; •- •• ; . « «s FOREWORD We, the editors and staff of the 1955 ENSEMBLE,” present a record of the first year’s activities at Webu- tuck Central School. STEVENS Assistant Supervising Principal ACTIVITIES MATHEMATICS Take it from these students: math- ematics is fun. Well, maybe not exactly fun, but stimulating. Of- fered this year were Elementary Algebra, Intermediate Algebra, Plane Geometry, and Trigonometry. SCIENCES In General Science, Biology, Physics, and Chemistry, students study the natural phenomena that makes up their environment. They can be absorbing studies, too, judging from the looks of concen- tration on the various faces. LANGUAGES A cultured person is usually bilingual, and so Latin and French are taught in addition to English. It is probable that other languages will be added to the curriculum as the need for them becomes apparent. SOCIAL STUDIES Charting a successful course in today's world is difficult at best, but the Webutuck stu- dent is aided by his knowledge of man's progress gained in classes of American History, World History, and World Geography. Miss Simmons, Mr. Bonville, and Mr. Franko direct these classes. BUSINESS Typewriting, Law Salesman- ship, Arithmetic, and Book- keeping are among the busi- ness subjects taught at Webutuck Central. Millerton bookkeeping students con- duct the student banking business in their building. Good grooming and attendent benefits are emphasized in Health class. Art is yet another medium through which the youngsters may express themselves. Under the guidance of Mr. Richard Watkins, boys and girls are instructed in the proper driving techniques.
