ASS ISTO Several days ago as we were searchlng through the old flles, we found a book entltled, W1stful Ways of the Class of 'S3 The book had collected a lot of dust and cobwebs, but after the dust had been wlped off we could falntly make out the wr1t1ng on lt We dlscovered the wr1t1ng to be none other than our flrst and second grade teacher, M ss Re1tzel, who gulded our class of twenty puplls through our three R's and was recordlng her e her struggles w1th our buddlng gemuses After leaflng through a few more pages we came upon the chapter entltled, 'Grades Three and Four' From th1s c h a p t e r we learned our teacher was Miss Eckert We had advanced our knowledge, but we stlll seemed very weak mgnded Dux-mg this tune we added and lost members of our class and now had l left Comlng next to somewhat clearer page s ln the book we found that in the f1fth grade we were taught by M1ss Mathlle and Mrs Henschen Cupid caught up wlth Mlss Mathlle By now we were developlng penmanship and havlng a won derful t1me Nearlng the half way mark 1n the book, we not1ced we had d1rected our thoughts to studles Cthat 1s , when we weren't loolnng out the W1I1dOW, under our gu1d.1ng teacher, Mrs Phllo Then we graduated from grade school and were ready to enter Jun1or H1gh We dlscovered 1n the next several pages, that the hardest tests came when we entered the seventh grade It was qulte a Job not to be wallnng around and gettlng lost,but our teachers soon solved that This year we were given our f1rst chance to elect class off1cers, and from our class of 17 pupils we elected the following Presldent-Ronald Moore, V Presldent Kenneth Aspacher, In the elghthgrade we agaln elected class offlcers, and they were Pres1 dent Bernece Ellert, V Presldent Kenneth Aspacher, Secretary Treasurer Marllyn Ward These three hero1c classmates and our sponsor, Mrs Deckman, mth the help of our pat1ent teachers, steered us successfully through Jun 1or Hlgh and prepared us for the next step of Senlor Hlgh Durlng this year we took the e1ghth grade tests and many rated h1gh 1n the county Now 1n the last four chapters entltled Sen1or H1gh , we made another 1m portant step of chooslng our own subgects We started as green freshmen, but soon that greeness faded and our democratlc group elected the followlng class offlcers Presldent Tom Dandson, V Presldent Jlm Phllo, Secretary Ronald Moore, Treasurer Kenneth Asoacher, Mr Doren gulded us through th1s year Nearlng mJ.d po1nt of our high school career, a group of students, then Sophomores, began thelr studles aga1n, under the guldance of Mr Duffner We agaln elected the followlng offlcers Presldent Jm Phllo, V Pres1dent Tom Davldson, Secretary Ruth Bosse, and Treasurer Kathryn M1ll:.ron In the fall of 'Sl only lb puplls entered school as Junlors Thls was a successful year, judged by the activities we engoyed and the respons1b1lit1es Contlnued on page 26? 19 C L H R Y I I ' Secretary-Ruth Bosse,. PRDPHIGZ In 1970, Bernece Eilert, the private secretary of the governor ofOhio, was given an all-expense paid vacation, so she decided to chance the new rocket trip to the moon. As she boarded the Greyhound bus, who did she find the driver to be, but the hot rod driver of Scotch Ridge , Tom Davidson, and also one of her former classmates As everyone knows he was always doing his best in keeping away from the cops Since Bernece knewthe driver she seated herself in the front seat to visit Roaring through the country side they discussed their classnates Tom said that the last time he heard anything about Ronnielvloore he was playing bas ketball for the University of Texas , where he was also taking a course in Mathematics Ronnie always thought someone was needed in Washing-tonto figure out the national budget Then Tom went on to say, he heard the other day that the former Ruth Bosse was now living in California To Bernece's great surprise she learned that Ruth had a family of three boys and three girls Stopping at Niagara Falls to transfer to another bus there was a delay, so Bernece went to have a look at the Falls There she met the former Kathryn Milliron who was on her honeymoon. She introduned Bernece to her husband, a very famous movie star Bernece then went to one of themanystands to buy some souvenirs When she finally found what she wanted, to her surprise she was waited upon by none other than Alex Schivelbein, the ovmer of the stand He was the shortest mem ber of the claus but he made abig hit with the children, selling pfearmts and souvenirs After he had failed in his attempt to go over the Falls in an inner-tube, he took over this very profiting businessa Alex told Bernece that JimPh:llo had made the headlines of the Daily Times He had succeeded in going over the Falls in a rubber barrel, but this wasnft much of a surprise, because he was always known as the boy most likely to succeed Finally she boarded the bus on its way to New York, which was the only place in the United States where she could board the rocket Arriving in New York she had two hours time before she hadto leave for the moon so she went down town. She said to herself, 'I'll have to see the Empi.c State B.1i1ding', o ing, Step to the back of the elevator, please ,which sounded very familia. It was the voice of a charming and very famous elevator girl, Doris Dierk sheide Doris has gained nation wide recognition running her elevator with such speed and accuracy After hurriedly reaching the top she looked towards Times Square and there saw the name Mary Wallace written in lights on the front of the Pa.ramou.t Theater Mary was playing t e leading role in the very popular show, Nor th ac1fic , opposite of, Sou Pacific From there Bernece headed for Laousrdna Airport, where the Rocket Stat on was located Once on the airport grounds she neededa cup of coffee to settle her nerves, so she went into the restaurant Seating herself at the counter the waitress said, May I take your order? To her great surprise thewaitress was her former classmate, M1 ss Marilyn Ward She didn t have much time so she drank her coffee in a Fur ry and rushed out to the rocket CCont1nued on page 261 20 I O . .
