EDITORIAL Youth is laughter . . . The soft murmur of voices Beneath a glistening canopy of blushing flowers On a balmy April afternoon. Youth is tears , . . The bitter heartbreak of a The sweet sadness that comes With an understanding iust To blossom. Youth is wistfulness . . . A vague yearning stirred Youth is a happy period of our lives, to be sure. There are the beach parties, the ski weekends, the rec- ord hofps, and all those wonderful times young people can anticipate and enjoy. However, we must not for- get that youth should mean more than a time for pleasure. We should build ourselves a future -- a future upon which we can reflect with pride and satis- faction. As young people, we should be at work pre- paring ourselves for coping with the challenges of a complex world in which we shall play a part, We like to think of youth as the following: YOUTH Youth is unquestioning faith . ,. It is standing before a stained-glass window Or on a green hillside ln the stillness of summer twilight And-sc-mehow knowing. Youth is restlessness and burning ambition . . M first tragedy, Wanting to follow the scarlet sun at dawn Rising above the amethyst mountains now beginning And on, to heights untraveled. Most of all, Youth is hope and endless tomorrows Tomorrows that will glow with golden radiance. C O today's Youth! By a haunting love song, a sad poem, a December 1 rain. By Carol Moore 3
