CHORUS A choral group made up of voluntary members met every Monday afternoon after school to re- hearse. This group participated in the Thanksgiving and Christmas assemblies. They also took part in the Spring Concert and an exchange concert with Cape Elizabeth. Diane Bunker was accompanist. Mrs. Townes directed. EXCHANGE CONCERT This year Webster and Walton Schools Combined their choruses and bands in order to hold an ex- change concert with Cape Elizabeth Junior High. The Webster- and Walton students traveled to the Cape on May 9, Cape Elizabeth students visited Auburn on May 16. A high-light of the evening proved to be the moment when the combined choruses, Webster, Walton, and Cape Elizabeth, sang Deep River and 'l Enjoy Being a Girl. The combined bands played especially well the selections: Sarabande and Ga- votte, S.l.B.A. March, and Tenth Regiment March. 37

It' provides us with information and enjoyment in practically every field. S-tudent librarians, members of the library club, work in the library. One of their duties is to help anyone who comes in searching for reading material. They also keep a list of all the students who enter the library and a list of those who borrow reference books. Furthermore, they cover and file books, and maintain' order.. In September the club met and chose the fol- lowing officers: Diana Akerley-President Nancy Hayes-Vice President Carol Clark-Secretary Mrs. Ludwick served as club adviser. The club agreed to meet the first Tuesday of every month. At the Tuesday meetings library procedures, which would best serve the interests of all who make use of the library, were discussed, At one meeting, committees were formed, name- ly, a committee for checking the index files, a house- keeping committee for overseeing the order of books and shelves, a program committee for planning the program for each meeting, a committee for checking overdue books, and a committee for ascertaining that all cards be filed correctly. , AUBURN YOUTH ACTIVITIES COUNCIL The Auburn Youth Activities Council is an or- ganization under the guidance of the Parks and Rec- reatio-n Department. its members are student repre- sentatives from freshman through senio-r classes. The neipresentatives decide upon, plan, and carry out ac- tivities such as- the Junior Olympics and the- Easter Egg Hunt. The represeintatives do all the planning and work, guided by helpful suggestions form Mr. Reynolds, the director. This organization gives stu- dents an oppo-rtunity to prepare for some of lite's ex- periences and to demonstrate the ingenuity of today's teefnagers. Each year students of Edward Little, Webster, Walton, and Sacred Heariwvote tor representatives to take part in this project. Webster was represented by three well qualified teenage otticials. Bruce Ray was Adminis- trative- Assistant, Judy James, Councilman from Ward 2, and John Bennett, City Solicitor.
