W-E-B-S-T-E-R! RAH,RAH,RAH ..... ! So starts one of Webster's well-konwn cheers, enthusiastically shouted at our many sports events. The cheer has a deep meaning for the players be- cause, at the sound of its familiar ring, they feel the support of the crowd and work harder to please the excited people. However, the individual letters shouted so strongly should have a deep meaning for all of us. Let's analyze these letters: W - stands for WE, the students and teachers, who work together to better understand ourselves and the peoples of the world. E - is for EDUCATION, which makes possible a deeper appreciation and awareness of the achieve- ments of our modern world. B -- stands for BOOKS - books that we use as texts, books for leisure reading, books for almost any- thing we could possibly wish. Books bring far-ofif lands to our fingertips and open new worlds for ex- ploration, S - is for SCHOOL, where human minds are shaped, and talents and interests are cultivated. T - stands for TESTS - tests to better prepare us to meet the demands of living and the challenges of life. E - is for EXTRA - CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES, groups that help develop the interests of students and encourage friendships. R - symbolizes the REASONS we are proud of Webster. The fine curriculum, dedicated teachers, and interesting clubs and organizations explain why Web- ster is so enjoyed by all. THE WEBSTER BLUE and GOLD Music by Robert Chaplin Words by Charles Jordan Set the echoes ringing loud and clear Lift the spirit proud and free, With a song of Webster's Blue and Gold As we march right on to Victory. We'll give a cheer for Webster's fighting team And our colors we'Il unfold. We are on our way to a win today For the Webster Blue and Gold. When you see the band march down the street, When you hear the music start, Then you'll ioin the chorus loud and strong With a song that's always in your heart. And when the boys in blue come crashing through, Every step with courage bold, . Fighting down the field 'til the foe must yield To the Webster Blue and Gold,
