Hayes Principal Progress of Webster I-lrgh rn Thrrty Years Our school was founded 1n 1922 w1th the late Professorl L Jones as tts prrncrpal At that ttme rt was called Unron Htgh School and was located at the present s1te of the late Mrs Mallory s home on North Talton Street There were four teachers and a ltttle less than two hundred puptls The SIIG was a crty block wrth a worn two story structure of three rooms The f1rst floor of the old U B F Hall whtch was located at the present stte of the Colored Ftmeral Home was secured for some of the prrmary grades The frrst buxldrng on our present school s1te was constructed rn 1923 The old burldrng was moved to the new srte by the late Cornelrous Leary The name was then changed to Webster Parrsh Trarmng School Thls grew by leaps and bounds A few years later a Teachers Home and Dormltory was con structed under the leadershrp of Mr W L Abney ln raprd successton came the Model School Burldmg four classrooms the ltbrary and the addrtron of four rooms over the audttonum of the frrst burldrng As the enrollment tncreased more teachers burldrngs and HCIIVIIICS were added The name was agatn changed to IIS present name Webster l-hgh School C Shaw Band Drrector da -,rs 'fr- M L Crttson Flfth Grade 701 -an ai E Harrts Industrtal Arts 'O A L Iones Grade G Harris Frfth Grade Q 09 YU YE' .,l la a V .
