sped, UQ, -.xxx ROW I: Witt, Rathbun, Perks, Johnson. ROW II: Hallstrom, Soyland, Miss Deetz, Peters, Mohs. Speech activities this year at W.H.3. included dec- lamation, original oratory and class plays. They were under the direction of Miss Ruth Deetz. The local Declamation Contest included competition in four divisions: poetry, Carol Witt and Delores Johnson: oratory, John Peters, Marion Rathbun and John Mohsg dramatics, Norman Soyland and Marjorie Parks, and humorous, Frederick Hallstrmn Rzthe Dis- trict Contest et Waubay, John Peters and Norman Soy- land won superior ratings which entitled them to compete at the Regional contest at Watertown. Carol Witt and Frederick Hallstrom won excellent ratings at the District Contest. Webster received the Dis- trict declemation trophy. John Peters won a second place at the Division Speech Meet at Watertown, with his original oretion, The Scandal of Our Highways.
