In packing a barrel of dishes to be sent to war-torn countries, Belle Boardman and Professor Dingwell discovered that they were Henry Clay originals valued at hundreds of dollars. They tried to buy the dishes from Abigail Pettibone, the owner, for a very small price. In the ensuing scenes, the dishes were stolen. Bill Boomer, who secretly took them, was caught and gave them up. They were hidden so 'that Belle and Professor Dingwell could not find them. The climax to the play came when Mark Thurston discovered the value of the dishes. To give the story a happy ending, Miss Abigail auctioned them off to Belle Boardman and Pro- fessor Dingwell for a high price, enough to pay for the mortgage on her home.
