'I Oliver, Wagner, Schilling, Ogle, Straub, Guffey ln l948, the Student Guidance Council was organized to function as the judicial branch of Webster's student government. Very few other St. Louis area schools had this type of council and Webster had good reason to be proud of the work it did. The purpose of the council was to help stu- dents who had broken school rules to realize their mistakes. The names of the offending stu- dents were submitted to the council by the stu- dent guides. No punishment was inflicted, but friendly discussion and auidance helped the student become a better citizen and the school a better place to attend. Headed by Fin Guf- fey and Don Oliver, the council was composed of seven representatives: three seniors, one jun- ior, and one sophomore.
