0 u, Mrg as, whoarethesymbolofthose qualities which we consider most significant in our school life, we affectionately dedicate this volume. During the thirty-two years in which you have guided the destinies of our alma mater, you have taken the initiative in enlarging the curriculum, adding facilities, and building schools to keep pace with the rapidly expanding enrollment. You are the architect of our greater school, which, happily for us, bears the mark of your vision and leadership. As Emerson wrote, An institution is truly the lengthened shadow of a man. Always concerned with the quality of education offered at Webster, you have consistently sought to raise academic standards by hiring teachers of the highest calibre, by making available essential materials, and by furnishing the necessary administrative leadership. Your genuine respect for scholarship has inspired us to work to maximum capacity, to take pride in our efforts, and to have a high re- gard for learning. Your interest in people has extended beyond the school into community affairs where you have always stood for the highest ideals of conduct. As one of the founders of the public library, as a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Grange, the Rotary Club, and the Chamber of Commerce, you have exerted infiuence on the entire area. If any man deserves the title of Mr. Webster, it is you. Your integrity, your tolerance, your fair- mindedness have been strong incentives to about 1915 sportsmanship. By your genuine interest in us, your friendliness, your generosity in spending yourself for the welfare of this school and community, Mr. Thomas, you have won a permanent place in our hearts and in the with Peter annals of Webster. We shall always remem- ber the gentlemanly scholar who directed our school. Mr. Thomas . . . t with grandchildren at the 1947 carnival

As we look Through the Knotholef' of the 1959 Reveille, we see the exciting and rigorous game of education as it is played in Webster Central. While scholarship, our principal objective, has been pursued daily in our regular classes, versatility has been afforded by the many clubs and organizations that have helped us to become educated socially as well as intellectually. Sportsmanship has been exem- plified and encouraged by the splendid teams that represent WCS and by the extensive in- tramural program for both boys and girls. While we consider the varied phases of our school life, poignant memories crowd our minds. We recall the fine friends and good times that have filled our high school days. Most of all we remember that it was in the halls of WCS that we made our greatest strides as we grew in stature and in wisdom.
