W -zz-:ze Senior Class Prophecy By Beverly Modglin One day I was sitting in a chair and I fell asleep. I dreamed it was the year 1966. I was taking a round-the-world trip. I started out from dear ol' Bluford , which by this time had grown into a great metropolis. I boarded the plane and .was greeted by a charming hostess, why it's Jackie Scott. During the trip I ventured into the cockpit and there, much to my sur- prise, Don Cameron and Jim Keele were piloting the plane. After this, I was just too shocked for words, so I went back to my seat. While recuper- ating, the nurse attending me turned out to be none other than Joyce Huff. Well, wonders never cease! By this time the plane had set down in South America, where I was going to visit the maternity ward of the hospital to see Mrs. Billie Shelton. She'd just given birth to twins. This makes . . . let me see . . . six children for Billie: assorted. While in the room visiting Billie, her doctor came in. He was none other than Dr. Otis Coil, a classmate of '56. After visiting the famous landmarks it was time to board the plane, so I'm off again. Sitting on the plane knitting, I looked up to see a rather conserva- tive young man wearing black, horn-rimmed glasses. Could it be? No, I guess it isn't. Yes, I believe it is, Ronald Storment. During the course of the conversation, I found that he is the father of two children and a busi- ness tycoon flying to Iran to take care of his oil. We sat down in China for refueling, so we had an hour to spend looking around. While eating in a Chinese restaurant and stumbling terribly with the chopsticks, I looked around in this place to see who was there. I noticed across the room a girl with beautiful blue eyes, seeming to have no trouble at all with her food or suitare either. I ventured over to talk to a fellow American and upon a closer look, it just happened to be Orilla Byars. She's working in China as an International Farm Youth Exchange. Upon talking to her, I found that LaVin Coil was in China working for a large American firm. The Former Dorothy Eiler was voted Miss Stenographer as she is now the President's secretary. Mercy! How these kids really get around! While talking, I understand that Fredia Norman is still Mr. Munday's secretary at dear ol' W.T.H.S. My goodness! I only have five minutes to get to the airport. Whew, I barely made it! Well, now that I'm relaxed, I can look around and see who's here. My gosh, it is, it's Mary Shaw! Only now she's Mrs. Larry Wilkerson. Oh, Pm glad I've got six hours to talk to her, she's always so newsy. During the course of the conversation, I learned that she was crowned Mrs. America 1964. Isn't it amazing! Well, she also informed me that Wilford Pierce was the President of the Ford Motor Company right in Bluford, and that Buddy Hurst and Oliver Jenkins were partners in farming and owned 2000 acres around Bluford. We were talk- ing and she said something about the world's champion. Hmm! I guess I'd better look into this. Oh, Pat Wilson is the champion of the world. She typed 300 w.p.m. on an IBM electric. Always knew that girl could do it. v.-goo Ao I9 N23 Zine 'uhh ff:-2 f'22-224 56 Senior Class Prophecy Well, here we are in New York. I'm almost relieved. How that woman can yak! Well, after looking around, I decided to check into the Ritz Hotel to find behind the desk Peggy Richardson. Questioning her, I found that Henry and Teddy Sauls owned the place. Nice, huh? Well, after this I decided to go to my suite. She pressed the buzzer for a bell- hop. To my surprise, it was none other than Lewis Gregory. Once in my suite, I started to read the evening paper. The headlines were screaming, Coach Bill Irwin's UCLA Rams take the inter-collegiate title . Irwin's Rams defeated the Monsters in a neck-to-neck battle. It was a battle of wits all the way! . . . Ring! Oh, there's the food I ordered. Why if it isn't Shelby Rapp. I surely am surprised to see her here. I understand that she's married to Curt somebody. On the train home, I stopped off at a little town in Penna. There I stayed at an exclusive motel. There was Donna Kaye fMaxeyD Hoffman. She and her husband, Max, had been running the place for years. Later, while browsing around in an antique shop, I bought a beautiful Chippen- dale table. The owner of the little shop turned out to be Jean Robertson. What a coincidence. While talking to Jean, I found that she had Jo Ann Jackson for a partner. She says they're confirmed old maids. Time for lunch ..... I ate in a little restaurant that specialized in sea food. While eating, I wanted the recipe of one of the dishes. I started off to the kitchen to find that Richard Scott was the chef. Upon making this dis- covery, I looked around and discovered that Earl Atkinson and Evelyn Brookman were his co-workers. After lunch, I went walking around and across the street I saw a sign that said, Joan's Smart Shop . I wonder if that's the same Joan I know? I immediately went over and checked in- to this to find that Helen Ellis was one of her clerks. I questioned Helen and she says Joan's the owner, but she wasn't in because she was out for her afternoon drive in her 1966, pink and white DeSoto. By this time, I had to leave for dear ol' Bluford . So, I boarded the train to find that Richard Kehrer was the conductor and the train was engineered by Alfred Brookman. I arrived in Mt. Vernon and was walking around. I decided to go into Murphy's Store for I still remember- ed working there years ago. Looking around, I purchased a lock from Loriene Brookman. I understand she's been working in the Nuts and Bolts section since 1955. I motored to Bluford and stopped at the high school to chat with Mr. Munday. While talking to him, I discovered that the former Beverly Reeker is head of the Commercial Department. I understand that Beverly has had several state winners! I decided to go see Beverly and talked to her for a while. I asked her about Perky Chambliss and she said that Priscilla was now Mrs. Maurice Woodworth, who is a world-famous psychiatrist and that his nurse was Janith Standerfer. After all my travels, I'm thoroughly exhausted, so it ya all'l excuse me, I guess I'd better get down to the real facts and put my nose back to the grind stone. 0.0 . vpn nos 0 19 b'uos'oo soo? 2 todos' Senior Class Will As we, the departing Senior Class of the Webber Township High School, in the year 1956, slide down the rainbow into the future, we will to the students and faculty of the coming years our many talents, troubles, pgssessions, and accomplishments. It was only three years ago in the fall of 1953 when forty-two Green Freshmen walked through this hall utterly thrilled at the event of becoming a W.T.H.S. student. Having Mr. Partridge and Mr. Rutherford as sponsors, we dug right in and elected officers as follows: President, Harold Chamblissg Vice-President, Jimmy Wiggins, Secretary-Treasurer, Kaye Pierce, and Student Council, Nancy Bean and Bill Green. Last year our sponsors were Mr. Partridge and Mr. Rutherford again. Being over our greenness , we Call forty-four of usb reentered the halls of learning more confident of ourselves. Our officers were: President, Larry Wilson, Vice-President, Harold Chamblissg Secretary. Norma Wilson, Treasurer, Pat Chamblissg Student Council, Violet Miller and Melvin White. With two successful years behind us, we're determined to do even better! We have thirty-five in our class this year and new sponsors, Mrs. Taylor and Mr. Razer. We started off with a bang by having a real crazy Sadie Hawkins Party. The Junior magazine sales went over on high, too. Our play, Bolts and Nuts , hasn't come off yet. Our officers for this year are: President, Violet Millerg Vice- President, Jim Wiggins, Secretary, Pat Chamblissg Treasurer, Delbert Pierce, Student Council, Norma Wilson and Larry Wilson. Our Sadie Hawkins Queen was Shirley Minor and our Homecoming candidates were Nancy Bean and Norma Wilson. Can you feature it? We'll all be Sophisticated Seniors next year. Well, so long till then. He feels that Elmer would make a good helper to bring in the hay. Hessie has just about decided to marry him when Daniel, a young agricultural experimentalist, drops in and boards with the Cracketts. Hessie is overcome by Daniel's intelligence and decides to run away and go to a city school. She leaves a note asking the family not to try and find her, that she will return some day and make them all glad. After a year has passed, Arkansas has finally persuaded Elmer that her sister never did love him, or she wouldn't have run away - - that she fArkansasJ is the one meant for him. The two are being married by hilarious Parson Bumble when Hessie returns home dressed stylishly, making fancy talk, and Daniel is with her. The family has assumed all the time that the fancy stranger had taken Hessie with him when he left, and their return almost breaks up the wedding when they all get their shooting irons out. However, Daniel and Hessie manage to convince the family that they had not even seen each other in the city, until Hessie had happened to meet Daniel, who was coming back to make more soil tests, and she decided to come back with him. While Parson hurries the cirymony so as to collect his pay, Daniel proposes to Hessie, promising to build a home in the hills where he can teach the people about new soil and crop developments, and where Hessie of the Hills can be near the ones she loves. Arkansas gets her man, Hessie find love, and Aunt Suzy dances right into the Parson's empty arms. The colorful characters pack the story with delightful humor from beginning to end.
