CALENDAR OF EVENTS SEPTEMBER 8-School opens with many of our old gang gone, but a new bunch of really green freshmen. I4-Glee Club elected oliicers. There was a lot of singing today. fOr whatever you call that noise.D I5-Class officers elected. I7-G.A.A. officers elected. 21-Spider Staff elected. 22-G.A.A. Skating Party at Mount Vernon. Lots of fun and plenty of falls. 25-Weiner roast at lake. 27--Student Council officers elected. It seems as if electing officers is all that has hap- pened this month. Oh, well, we will have our business attended to. OCTOBER 2-Mr. Samford leaves for army. We are losing one of our best teachers. 3-Mrs. Simmons comes to take Mr. Samford's place. 6-G.A.A. girls goes on a three mile hike. 7-G.A.A. girls come to school limping. Oh, my feet! 8-Freshman party at the reservoir sponsored by Student Council. Freshmen were initiated. More fun for the upper classmen. 9-Freshmen come to school sore' from initiation. Some of them preferred to stand all day. 10-Roger and Bud got kicked out of class. II-Mrs. Simmons kicked some more kids out of history. I5-Billy returns from working in California to enroll in school again. End of first six weeks. 16-Mrs. Simmons leaves. VVe wonder why? I7-Mrs. Thomas comes to take Mrs. Simmons place. 21-22-Teacher's Institute. Out of school. Oh, Boy! 28-Hallowe'en party given by June, Ramona, and Ella. We were greeted by ghosts. Spooky, isn't it? NOVEMBER 2-Speech given in assembly by Sergeant Leonard, a veteran of World War I. Very good, too! He certainly knew how to sway our emotionsg we were laughing one minute and crying the next. 7-Web Staff appointed. II--Armistice Day. No school. We wish history could repeat itself today, and we would have a second armistice. 15, 16, I7-No school because the furnace broke down. Hurrah for the furnace!! 24-End of second six weeks. My how time does fly. 25-Thanksgiving Day. Out of school and lots of turkey. What more could we want? 26-Everyone comes to school sick from eating too much. 27--Noel Whalen and David Ford visit school while home on furlough. 30-Missionary from China gives speech in assembly. Very interesting! DECEMBER 2-Margaret and Jean take first and second places, respectively, in eassy contest for county. 5-Bob Monoghan visits school. He is another one of Bluford's sailor boys. 7-Pictures taken for annual. Everyone posing and smiling all day.
