Juniorg Class History Fifteen lighthearted and happy but green boys and girls entered Webber Township High in the fall of 1941. We elected our Officers as follows: President, Bettie Streetg Vice-President, james Austing Secretary-Treasurer, Ella Parkerg Student Council members, Ruth Modglin and Melvin Boothe. Our sponsor for this year was Betty Guller. We entered our Sophomore year with fourteen members. The green had worn off, and we began to take a more active part in school affairs. The school King and Queen were from our class-Ella Parker and Roger Downeyg so naturally we had reason to feel as if we were important to VV.T.H.S. Our officers this year were Roger Downey, Presidentg james Austin, Vice-Presidentg Carl Hiatt, Secretary-Treasurerg June Shouse and Bobby Williamson represented our class as Student Council members. We were under the sponsorship of Mrs. Power. We entered our junior year with only eight members-gaining one new member and losing seven old ones. During this year we've attempted to pub- lish The Spider monthly. Our officers for this year were Jean Clemons, President, June Shouse, Vice-Presidentg Ella Parker, Secretary-Treasurer, Vivian Esmon and Roger Downey served on the Student Council for our class. We are very proud of our President, who won a trip to Fort Des Moines, Iowa-a W. A. C. training center-by winning an essay contest. Our sponsor this year has been Mrs. Weaver. We are indeed looking forward to a happy and successful Senior year. We vow to make it the most outstanding year of our high-school career. Sophomore Class History In September, 1942, we sophomores, numbering forty, started our high school career at the old building of Webber Township High School as fresh- men. Although green at first we soon overcame this. The annual initia- tion party was the end of our suffering. And how! We participated in several parties and all athletics offered. We were represented on the Student Council by james Bundy and I.ovell Lane. Our class officers were elected as follows: Bill Bailey, President: Roberta Peak, Vice-Presidentg and Betty Johnson, Secretary-Treasurer. They all served us faithfully. 5 At Christmas vacation we took our books home and returned to the new building. We were proud to be the first freshmen to attend school there. When the school year ended, we were full-fledged sophomores and proud of it. In September, 1943, we entered our second year of high school with an enrollment of thirty-eight. This time we did the initiating and did a good job. We elected Hartzel Grant, Presidentg Ramona McKinney, Vice-Presi- dentg and Betty johnson, Secretary-Treasurer. Student Council members of our class were james Bundy and Doris Stevens. We were represented in athletics and other activities and did well in academic achievements. Until next year when we tackle our third year, we say Adios and Good Luckf' JOHN ROBERT WARREN H istorian. 16 The 1944 Web
