,Q-. ., -. 1. Q,-pq., ,l SENIOR HISTORY Back in the year 1939, twenty-five timid Freshies entered the portals of this fine institution of learning known as the Webber Township High School. Ours was an active little group, and we worked and played through that initial year under the leadership of such capable students as Leslie Haynes, our Class President, David Ford, Vice-President, and Bob Dickey, Secretary. Mr. Moore, our sponsor, guided us safely through our Freshman year. At the beginning of our second year, five of our little force left us, but David Ford changed his mind and joined us again in March. By this time, most of the green had worn off, and we were in the full swing of school activities. We had two sponsors during the year-Mr. Hicks during the first semester, and Mr. Boswell for the remainder of the year. To serve as class officers, we elected Bob Dickey, President, Sybil Wood, Vice-President, and Bob Bounds, sceretary. And so we came to the third year. By this time several more from our group retired from their educational careers, and we were left with a crew of thirteen. During our Junior year, we had as sponsors Miss Douglas and Mr. Samford. XfVe presented our class play, Take It Easy, with Mr. Samford directing the production. We also published the school paper, The Spider, with Mrs. Power as sponsor, and Sybil as editor. Class officers were: David Ford, President, Junior Donoho, Vice-President, and Carl Lane, Secretary. Bob Bounds and Marguerite Gerrish represented the class as Student Council members. There were twelve of us at the beginning of our Senior year, but Bob Bounds moved away, Ivan Green enlisted in the Navy, and David Ford joined the Army. We want to say here that we are proud to have such fine boys as Ivan and David to represent our class in Uncle Sam's Army, and we wish them the very best of luck. The Scarecrow Creeps, our class play, was directed by Mrs. Petitt. Class officers for the year were: Junior Donoho, President, James P. Irvin, Vice-President, and David Ford, Secretary. Miss Lorinski was our sponsor. Juanita Stone and Henry Wade jackson served on the Student Council, Juanita as president of the organization. And now we are graduates. As we leave, we carry with us many pleasant memories of the four years we have spent together here. VVe are grateful to our fine teachers and parents who have stood by us and helped us to progress to where we now are. - The 194 3 Web 7
