Q,-pq., ,l SENIOR HISTORY Back in the year 1939, twenty-five timid Freshies entered the portals of this fine institution of learning known as the Webber Township High School. Ours was an active little group, and we worked and played through that initial year under the leadership of such capable students as Leslie Haynes, our Class President, David Ford, Vice-President, and Bob Dickey, Secretary. Mr. Moore, our sponsor, guided us safely through our Freshman year. At the beginning of our second year, five of our little force left us, but David Ford changed his mind and joined us again in March. By this time, most of the green had worn off, and we were in the full swing of school activities. We had two sponsors during the year-Mr. Hicks during the first semester, and Mr. Boswell for the remainder of the year. To serve as class officers, we elected Bob Dickey, President, Sybil Wood, Vice-President, and Bob Bounds, sceretary. And so we came to the third year. By this time several more from our group retired from their educational careers, and we were left with a crew of thirteen. During our Junior year, we had as sponsors Miss Douglas and Mr. Samford. XfVe presented our class play, Take It Easy, with Mr. Samford directing the production. We also published the school paper, The Spider, with Mrs. Power as sponsor, and Sybil as editor. Class officers were: David Ford, President, Junior Donoho, Vice-President, and Carl Lane, Secretary. Bob Bounds and Marguerite Gerrish represented the class as Student Council members. There were twelve of us at the beginning of our Senior year, but Bob Bounds moved away, Ivan Green enlisted in the Navy, and David Ford joined the Army. We want to say here that we are proud to have such fine boys as Ivan and David to represent our class in Uncle Sam's Army, and we wish them the very best of luck. The Scarecrow Creeps, our class play, was directed by Mrs. Petitt. Class officers for the year were: Junior Donoho, President, James P. Irvin, Vice-President, and David Ford, Secretary. Miss Lorinski was our sponsor. Juanita Stone and Henry Wade jackson served on the Student Council, Juanita as president of the organization. And now we are graduates. As we leave, we carry with us many pleasant memories of the four years we have spent together here. VVe are grateful to our fine teachers and parents who have stood by us and helped us to progress to where we now are. - The 194 3 Web 7 SENIOR ACTIVITIES J. P. The 1943 Web - 'I Q fl 1 WILL We, the Seniors of Webber Township High School, being sound of mind Cwe do believej, do hereby, on this sunny day in May, leave to the following our most prized possessions in the hope that they will find use for them. Junior Donoho's pleasant disposition to Kenneth Wiley. J. P. Irvin's chatter to Jimmy G. Lewis. Marguerite Gerrish's ability to go steady to any girl. Juanita Stone's ambition to Billy Reece. Carl Lane's seriousness to Harvey Tyler. David Ford's personality to Mary Watkins. Henry Jackson's quietness to Freddie Meyer. Robert Henry's romantic ways to Leo Green. Clarence Peytonls ability to argue to Donald Smith. To our teachers we will the following: To Mr. Power, one of the best-behaved and most industrious student bodies in the state. To Mrs. Power, a year's subscription to the Reader's Digest. To Mrs. Petitt, the courage to direct another Senior play. To Mr. Samford, a book of jokes-he certainly knows how to put them over. To Miss Lorinski, our sponsor. the memories of a year which we hope wasn't too unpleasant, and the admiration and thanks of a class which she helped out of school life into life's school. And to all the classes, the honor of being the first class to . graduate from the new school building. S1:g7lt?d-SYBIL WOOD. 10 The 1943 Web The 1943 Web PROPHECY In this rapidly changing world, we pause to glimpse into the future. Most of our lives will have a military influence, since the boys of our class will probably be inducted into the Army, and we imagine the girls' interests lie in that direction! Attention! Lieutenant Ford has just received a medal for out- standing bravery under fire in the line of duty. Captain junior Donoho, a bachelor, is a pilot in the Air Corps, and if anyone hears a loud explosion, it's just Berlin being bombed by a force of B-I7's, led by Din1ples Donoho! Look, who we have here! None other than Buck Private J. P. Irvin on K. P. duty-peeling potatoes. Carl Lane was too tall to get into the Army, so he is now taking orders from a wife instead of a sergeant. Clarence Peyton proudly drives his new ,45 Chevrolet, which he bought with the profits from his large and prosperous farm. Robert Henry is in the guard-house for being A. W. O. L. He started that habit in high school. Marguerite is expecting her husband home soon on a ten-day furlough from Camp fCensoredj ! She is No. I riveter at a large defense plant. Juanita Stone has just graduated from college and is now the private secretary to President Roosevelt. fYes, he's still in officelj Henry jackson, who is a bombardier in the Air Corps has just returned from a 5,000 plane raid on Tokyo. And last but not least, for a student who is not one of us but who will graduate with us, we predict a brilliant future. Yes, Charles Clemins, the boy wonder of B. H. S., will go far-shall we say even as far as being the President of the United States?
