This year has held some good memories and some bad. ln all truth, there may have been more bad, but . . . When the good was good, it was REALLY GOOD! Loo ing back, memories come to mind of close friends and happy moments. l am sure that everyone has run over a fevv yellovv trucks, munched out on animal crackers and gone to Ovoca Falls to watch the chickens on T.V. at least once. Everyone has to light their wildfires sometime -- they just burn higher when you're on an island! Urrr. . . . . . the statement that man can live under almost any condition is only half true, it must oe supplemented by the other statement, that if he lives under conditions which are contrary to dis nature and to the basic re uirements for human growth and sanity, he cannot help reacting, he must either deteriorate and perish, or bring about conditions vvhich are more in accordance vvitw dis needs. - Ericw From lf? gf' ff if l In my five years at Webb, l have learned something and that is to grin and bear it -- not becausesig ilsrtsejlzgesst policy, but rather because it is the only outlet available. - Kurt Vonnegut HOW LONG!! 1 HOW LONG!! What a long, strange trip it's been.-- Grateful Dead lVly four years at Webb have been a lot of good times and a lot of turbulence. One cannot merely see Webb and like it. One has to experience it in order to feel the full impact. Webb does change one's way of life. It has changed my way of thinking and has given me open- mindedness that I would not have acquired elsewhere. Webb operates under rules which are rigid and, to some extent, backward. I always wanted to live in a permissive society while I was here. I got into trouble, but finally learned that one cannot only partly adhere to the civil rules. This school does create discipline. I finally learned that breaking rules is not worth the pain that it usually produces. I have had my battles wit the perfects and I still think that there are serious problems with the system. I have gained a sense of honor that will accompan me wherever I go. I have seen many changes take place dlbring my four years here. I have seen a hot-headed administrator turn into a good principal, a headmaster turn into a good public relations man, penalties finally fiting the wrongdoings and weekend leaves being unlimited, then restricted, and finally coming back to a more liberal polic . I have seen a principal go but it might be that the end dllrects and sanctifies the means . There are some things that I will never forget. Some have to go witw events at Webb and others in IVIemphis: my good times with Henry IVliller and lVIrs. Cannon's car, the lake, my friendship with Robb , Robert, Jimmy and John IThe Rastamanb, midtown Illllemphis, moving John's garden to Sherry's, Bull Sessions, lVlonteagIe Ca paradiseb, lVlrs. Atterholt and the Library, Helga's imitation of IVlick Jagger, waterfights in Rand, trying to outwit the Prefects, lVIay 21, 1975, and friendships that have been made here. Finally, the biggest thanks has to go to my parents. They have put with me during my turbulent years. But now, everything is back to normal and I know the meaning of having a close family. I can say that Webb has given me a good spiritual and educational base that I can capitalize on. Thanks, Webb. Now I believe I'm leavin', I'm in too deep and that seems easy enough for a man to Say, Well, we never would agree if we talked all night, things are gettin' kinda heaxgy, I'm travellin light and you can see I am an angel, whose wings just won't unfol , tune up my harp, polish my old haIo.-- Jerry Jeff Walker A conspiracy of silence speaks louder than words.-- John Lennon Pardon my heart, it's onl that I care.-- Neil Young 'De herb is the healing oglthe world.--Bo IVIarley in
