What we are is God's gift to us. What we become, is our gift to God. lVlany narrow-chested, spindly-legged players who are built of wire and posses real fire are often greater players than per- fect physical specimens. Be more concerned with your character than with your reputation, Because your character is what you really are While your reputation is merely what others think you are. gg John Wooden Webb has offered me a chance to receive a sound education, but Webb has also offered me a unique atmosphere in which to receive this education. Webb has put me into the position of making my own decisions. Even though they may not always be the right decisions, they are mine and thus enable me to be my own man. l have also been given the opportunity to play basketball at Webb. When I first came to Webb I wasn't interested in playing this sport, but Coach Johnson worked with me and has made me into a decent ballplayer. I really appreciate what he has done for me. In addition to Coach Johnson, Jerry wartin has helped me develop my basketball skills and I also wish to thank rm. The students at Webb have meant a great deal to me, not only in the classroom, but also on the basketball court. When I come out of the locker room at game time and see these people lined up along the court cheering the team, it really makes me feel good. It makes me want to repay them for their cheers by playing my best. Of course everything at Webb has not been perfect, and some heartbreak- ing incidents have taken place -- one in particular. I do not know what will come of this, but I sincerely hope that it will be for the best, not only for my parents and myself, but also for the school. DMM Crzmlm Bovff

If someone had told me a year ago that I would be spending my senior year at the Webb School in the metropolitan center of Bell Buckle, I would never have believed them. How- ever, certain circumstances have brought me into the Webb community, and although the time l have spent here is short, I have experienced Webo, and I have benefitted from this experience. It has forced me to change, lt has forced me to mature, it has forced me to grow up. I can't say that I haven't regretted the fact that I left home, but I know that if I had stayed in Louisville, I would never have met Lanie Scum, I3,Q, O'Donnell, Mary Roberts! lVlary Roberts! , The Puh Patroll or all the other members of the Sawney Pound and Kennel Club who helped me to survive this year. fill EVM l I believe, as I did as a child, that life has meaning, a direction, a value, that no suf- fering is lost, that every tear counts, that in each drop of blood the secret of the world is to be found. -- lVlauriac
