Interested students used some of their activity periods during vveek to learn about computers by vvriting computer programs for solving given problems. Students expecting to be candidates to represent Webb in various math contests also studied problems which would be of aid in this matter. CHESS CLUB The Chess Club, under the leadership of lVlarion lVlarks Cmathematicsl, provides intramural competition in the game of chess. Students compete with one another in their free time or during activity period. At the end of the year the Chess Club holds a contest between the five members vvith the highest rankings as determined by previous games, vvith the vvinner receiving a trophy. FORENSICS The Forensics group is comlprised of students vvho enjoy participating in individua speaking events at speech tournaments held throughout middle Tennessee and southern Kentucky. We have competed and sometimes excelled in such events as Extemporaneous Speaking, Dramatic interpretation, Poetry interpretation, Duet Acting, and Interpretation of Prose. The emphasis ofthe Forensics program is on developing individual speech interests and on becoming self- confident in a variety of speaking situations.
