sei---M 9261 - f'937 -'ix amor Clays History In the fall of 1927 there enrolled in W. H. S. forty-seven green fresh- men Who were to make history during the ensuing four years. The first important event of the year was riding the goat. Said goat was rather frisky, but the greenies passed this ordeal without being marred physical- ly. Bill Dancy was president and Miss Hawes Know Mrs. Caylorj Was sponsor. The next milestone was the sophomore year. The green had Worn off and the class was beginning to be an asset to the school. Some were play- ing football, and others were taking part in non-athletic activities. Starr Rinard Won a place on the all-conference second football team. James Peters was president and Mr. Kendall was sponsor. Ever soaring higher, these students reached their junior year. John Argo was president and John Eastwood, vice president. Miss Brown sponsored the class until she Went away to schoolg then Miss Stebler was chosen to complete the year. Probably the outstanding event was the play, Forest Acres. The junior-senior banquet at the Quada-seeda Club near Ponca City was a marked success. Woodrow Blackstock was toast- master, and several juniors were speakers. At the close of the football season, Louis Maher was chosen as one of the three high-point men on the team and thus earned a trip to Norman to see a varsity game. At last THE year arrived. There were not so many in the class as in '27. Some had tellen by the wayside or had moved awayg so there were only seventeen graduating seniors. This class elected Helen Parker for president and LeRoy Blackstock for vice-president. Miss Chaney Was chosen sponsor. - Bernard Randolph was placed on the all-conference Ark Valley foot- ball team. Of the thirteen members of Oklahoma State Honor Society, six were seniors. Louis Maher made highest grades. LeRoy Blackstock had been a member of this society for the four years of his high school career. The debate team was made up of three senior boys who very ably upheld either side of the question, and under Mr. Davis' coaching they brought home from the tournament at Shidler a beautiful cup. Other members were active in the various clubs. Ruby Gravitt was president of the Wildcats g Helen Parker was on the girls quartet. So ends this not-so-strange, eventful historyg but, unlike Shakie's seventh-age man, they have only begun the real history. May the train- ing they have rec-eived here be of some help to them in choosing their several careers. Page Thirteen
