A student must not only make the academic requirements for the club, but also must meet the personal levels of excellence in such -areas as Leadership, Citizenship, Service and Character. According to sponsor Steven Neely, a selected board of 10 teachers is involved in the screening process for prospective initiates. The 45 members chosen joined the veteren 32 seniors already in the organization. The main pur- pose of National Honor Society is to reward excellent students. 1 2 SOINHS T '- 1. . , ,gf 1 Q . But they made up for this lack of size by displaying more heart and will to win than any team l have ever coached, stated head football coach Tom Gosch, in refer- ence to the Cardinal footballers of 1978. This football team was also one ofthe most dedicated in the off season. This appraisal by itself would be enough to make any team's gridir- on effort seem worthwhile. But the Card,s eight victories in W.C.H.S.'s last Big 13 campaign was icing on the cake. Next year the Cards will enter the Ozark Conference and face tough com- petition from Joplin and Springfield schools twice their size, So this year was goodby to our neighborly rival- ries that have become rather intense over the years. -r Football! 77 wfaxme ' 75 6 Daman 1 3 78!Wrestling I ,X i if F T' ,fx-X I it 1 0 n L , QM! 5 x wyfm. 11612, 11 J Jlsvl.
