I IL RUTH W11,H1'rE l 0l'6W0l' Back in 1926, the Cardinal became the emblematic mascot at Webb City High School. The Cardinal was chosen, as the rutnor goes, because the St. Louis Cardinals were Winning that year, in fact, they went on to win the World Series. For over thirty years, the Cardinal has served Webb City High School well. We have had our ups and downs as has the team from whence the name came, but through all those years the students and faculty have shown a splendid spirit. We feel that our Red Bird has long deserved the priviilege of appear- ing inside the cover of our yearbook with all his vigor and charm insrtead of remaining as a mere decoration for the outside. No one merits the glory of showing you our school and activities more ithan the Cardinal, who stands for the spirit behind them. In that same Cardinal spirit: To the program of the STUDENT BODY, With the aid of the ADMIINISTRATION, interest is added through the ORGANIZATIONS fun is gained through SPQRTS, ACTIVITIES add the finail touch. edicafiolz During the past few years one of the most important projects pro- posed for the improvement of our school system, especially for the Junior- Senior High School, has been the erection of a Junior High School building. After much thought and work on the part of the Superintendent and the Board of Education, the proposal was submitted to and approved by the voters in October. We wish to dedicate this volume of the King Jack to those people who worked so diligently that this building might become a reality, and to those patrons in Webb City who saw fit to vote in such a manner that the improvements in our schools might go forward. fi . - I - , v WA i.f-- I ,xy .Eg 7zf ,x vgffiy 2 ,.i,,, 2 CL. How long we have waited to hear that title! Behind us we leave fond mem-ories and perhaps a few tears for our dear old WCHS. We will never forget our football and basketball heroes for whom we yelled our lungs out in the big games. We have given the school our all in sports, in music, in speech, in debate, and in scholastic achievement. Emblaz- oned in our memories are some of our very special events such the beautiful Junior-Senior Prom where the girls wore beautiful formals and had starry eyesland the boys were never so handsome. Other unforgettable moments include the night of the Senior Play, our Senior Tacky Day when we wore clothes we had been dying to wear all year, the? Senior picnic, the glittering coronation of our Queen of King Jack, and finally our long awaited Commencement. Now, the time has come for us to make tracks into the great unknown-the lworld to conquer. As we lefwe our dear old high school , We will say a, little pmyer l For God to guide our footsteps In everything we dare. l l Page 8 am? Gfre ow gZeJqeJ QJMLLJ Seniors ETHEL BLACK-Commercial. When We launched our hilarious class play Come Out of the Closet, the audience fairly rocked with laughter. When We cheered the boys of our class as they helped our teams, you would never be able to hear the beep beep of any man made moon. We have gotten many people to lay down their binoculars and attend the perform- ances of the band, orchestra, mixed chorus, and glee clubs as the members of our class participated in them. An invitation party was held for the eighth grade girls on April 21 to acquaint them with F. H. A. As a grand finale, the chapter gave an hour- long assembly for the entire high school, as well as being entertaining, it helped the school to become better acquainted with the program of F. H. A. C.
