1985 Portal Weaver High Hartford, Ct. Publication Design Workshop Class: Gloria Gould, Keith Hinds, Vernon Kennedy, Yolanda Lee, Kenneth Lowe, Johnnette McGhee, Ronald McGowan, Charlie Norman, Jerome Standberry, Kimberly Sutton, Nova Taylor, Soncere Whitecloud, Varick Williams, Janie Hall, Jonathan Bailey, Clairessa Lattimore. Evening Yearbook Staff: Leon Allen, LaMont Andrews, Jonathan Bailey, Mark Davis, John Gaskin, Aretha Green, Marion James, Patrick Jones, Vernon Kennedy, Ronald McGowan, Greg Mills, Latice Moultrie, Shiela Waller, Yvette Walser. “Kicking it live in 85” (kiking it liv in a te fiv)-Slang 1. On the ball with things. 2. Slang word used to describe a very active class, which graduates in 1985. 3. Progress accomplished academically, socially and actively by a 1985 graduating class. Wake Up! Get Up! Wake Up! “KICKING IT LIVE IN 85” was unanimously chosen as theme for the class of 1985. Following the turbulent moments in the ‘60’s, adults have had negative attitudes towards the upcoming generations. They assumed that current students saw high school as a necessary evil that they endoured but in which they did not actively participate. The class of ’85 has proven them wrong. They have “Kicked it live.” They are concerned and active in all aspects of school life and in the community. The Mighty Beavers Are Good To Go There are certain things that have to be taken care of before the school day actually begins: Catching up with the latest news of your home girls and home boys, hitting the lockers to get rid of that heavy load, and finally, going to the school store to fill up with fuel. Play It-Kick It Beavers continue to strive in 85 by researching, studying, trying to find a better way to a successful future. Beavers, play in the library; kick it in the classrooms; play it in the air; kick it in the hallways. FLAY IT, KICK IT! PLAY IT, KICK IT! Strong, and Mr. Tallman: we appreciate al! the time and effort that you have given this year to make our activities successful. Whenever we needed you for transportation, advice, or even motivation, you were there. Although we may not have shown it at the time, we were aware of all that you did. We Also Wish To Thank: The Administration for their help throughout the year. The Staff members who gave us an education. Those people who supported our magazine drive. Those staff members who chaperoned our dance. Those who supported our fruit sale. Those who bought Valentine Flowers. Those who in many other ways helped our class this year. We would not like to thank those responsible for our missing T-Shirts Dedication Our Parents And Guardians From your early morning, “Get out of bed”, to your late evening, “Get off the telephone”, you show us in many ways that you are a moving force behind our education. Without your encourgement, financial support, motivation, and, most of all, love, we would not have been able to come this far. For all that you have done and continue to do, we thank you. Dr. Paul Copes Dr. Copes, even though you left us at the beginning of our senior year to become Assistant Superintendent in charge of elementary education, we wish to recognize your efforts to move Weaver in the direction of becoming an outstanding educational institution. It is upon the educational foundation that you established that we continue to build. For your tireless energy that you gave to Weaver, we thank you. 51 m y maos: HI ., F ' i yfi? ,u r .
