We carried out the total responsibility for providing training for the twenty student curators of the Barnett-Aden Art Collection which was housed at Weaver High School. This was a never-to-be- forgotten language-art experience. In addition, we have continued our participation in the Toastmaster ' s Club which provides opportunities for our budding forensic geniuses. We are also looking forward to another fine production by the drama classes. Then, back to the business of the year — we established the Writing Proficiency Test as an official part of the English curriculum. 4 6 . n r ' — ■ ■ : 1 ; M s 2 i 2 - - 13 lli 5 . 1 M 10 13 SCIENCE 1. All the Spanish-speaking students at Weaver are also continuing to develop skills in their native language as well as in English. We also have a group of students learning conversational Japanese, in preparation for their trip to Japan in the summer of 1978. It was the first time that this outstanding exhibit has been housed outside a museum setting. The exhibit is the oldest collection of works by Black Artists and has examples from the 19th century through the present. Students from the three high schools served as curators after receiving training by the English Staff at Weaver. The opening had the misfortune of happening during a mini-blizzard, however is was meaningful for those who braved the storm to attend. During the exhibit students from all the middle and high schools as well as many elementary schools were inspired by the works of art. It is hoped that similar exhibits will continue in the future. 115 (top, left) VOLLEYBALL TEAM: VICKI BLACK, BERTHA BILLINGTON, DEBORAH FITZPATRICK, BRENDA REDICK (j.V.), ALICE RICHARDS, DENISE GOOGE.
