MR. JOHN B. McGILL A cheerful smile always greeted students when they entered this teacher’s room. With an appropriate joke for every situation which arose, he made his classes more enjoyable. By being somewhat stern in his manner, he instilled a strong sense of responsibility and self-discipline in us. By giving his students a fuller understanding of what democracy means, he taught us to become better citizens in later life. Just think how many Weaverites spent their afternoons learning the responsibilities of an expert driver! Even though this man left the portals of our school this year, he will always remain in the hearts of the class of ”62.” And so for his inspiration and his guidance, we dedicate to him this, the Portal of 1962. MR. WILLIAM H. KATZ There is much we can say about this teacher who has won the respect and admiration of almost every Weaver student. Being tall, dark, and handsome, he is easily identified by his Ivy-League clothes. In his easy-going manner, he taught his students the fundamentals of mathematics. Never can it be said that fairness and justice were not evident because he treated all equally and justly. Many students were able to overcome their difficulties because of this teacher’s com¬ mendable patience. Our class considers this man as one of us since he came here the same September, and now as we finish our stay, he is leaving Weaver to do graduate work. Therefore, to show our appreciation for his hard work and his guidance, we proudly dedicate to him The Portal of 1962. MISS CATHERINE S. BAILEY We shall al ways remember this teacher for her devotion, under¬ standing, and interest in her students. She willingly spent many hours after school to give us additional information to enrich our appreciation of literature. Her sense of humor has made the tedious chore of studying English enjoyable! Not only were we aided in our studies by her knowledge, but we were also aided by her constant readiness to lend an ear and an open mind to solve our individual personal problems. No one will ever forget this teacher’s warm personality as she greeted all. Because of the fine qualities which she has evidenced to us for these past four years, we dedicate to her, The Portal of 1962. There are few words which can express our gratitude to Mr. McGill, formerly of the History Department, Miss Bailey of the English Department, and Mr. Katz of the Mathematics Department, to whom we, the class of ”62”, dedicate our Portal.
