Of course, at the time our studies might have seemed tiresome and the results not too spectacular, but the realization of having completed a long and sometimes arduous task is al¬ ways rewarding. In appreciation of these past high school years the PORTAL Board has attempted to s how how they will influence the modern man as he moves ahead into the future. His knowledge will enable the modern man to live in comfort and happiness. As a scientist he will invent wonderful new drugs; as an engineer he will provide streamlined cars and appliances; as a lawyer or judge he will help men re¬ tain the strength of morals taught by the priest or the rabbi; as a parent he will endow his children with the will to improve upon these, his own humble beginnings. But now, let’s go, Class of 1956 — the future awaits us! — H. L. S. — Captivating regal splendor!” Tiresome . . . and not too spectacular!”

Just a few more short minutes, after three eventful years of waiting and prepara¬ tion! Those three years won’t be for¬ gotten, however, if the PORTAL Board has succeeded in its work. Through pic¬ tures, write-ups, an d the very latest style artwork, we hope you’ll always remember your classmates and teachers and the events that you’ve shared with them: the assemblies, that were always inspiring and enlightening; the dances, that transformed the gym into a scene of captivating, regal splendor; the warm feeling after cheering a Weaver football, basketball, or baseball team to victory; and then, the weeks, the months, the marking periods of classes that now seem to have flown by fairly The warm feeling after cheering . ..

DEDICATION As we, the graduating cl ass of 1956, end our high school careers and prepare to embark up¬ on life’s journey into the future, we dedicate this, our classbook, to Weaver High School. It is certain that, in no small way, this school has helped to mold us into not only what we are today, but also into what we shall succeed in becoming even fifty years from now. The teach¬ ers of Weaver High School have sought to imbue in us, their students, the desire to ac¬ complish worthy tasks, to strive towards our goals with complete and unrelenting stead¬ fastness. Should not the value of our high school education also be measured in the knowl¬ edge gained of our fellowmen? Here Weaver High School truly excels, for inside its portals a spirit of friendliness and cooperation is most obvious — a spirit which is so much a part of this graduating class today. That we may pay tribute to Weaver High for having opened so many gateways to the future, we, the Class of 1956, hereby dedicate this year’s Portal to our Alma Mater!
