DEDICATION As we, the graduating cl ass of 1956, end our high school careers and prepare to embark up¬ on life’s journey into the future, we dedicate this, our classbook, to Weaver High School. It is certain that, in no small way, this school has helped to mold us into not only what we are today, but also into what we shall succeed in becoming even fifty years from now. The teach¬ ers of Weaver High School have sought to imbue in us, their students, the desire to ac¬ complish worthy tasks, to strive towards our goals with complete and unrelenting stead¬ fastness. Should not the value of our high school education also be measured in the knowl¬ edge gained of our fellowmen? Here Weaver High School truly excels, for inside its portals a spirit of friendliness and cooperation is most obvious — a spirit which is so much a part of this graduating class today. That we may pay tribute to Weaver High for having opened so many gateways to the future, we, the Class of 1956, hereby dedicate this year’s Portal to our Alma Mater!

MR. WILLIAM F. AITKEN As the graduating class of 1956 for the last time passes through the portals of Weaver High, we pause to bid a fond farewell to our beloved principal and friend, Mr. William F. Aitken. A heartfelt thank you” hardly seems enough for all the loyal devotion Mr. Aitken has shown to our school and the students. Al¬ ways sympathetic and understanding, he has guided us with a strong, but gentle hand, im¬ parting his wisdom to all who ask, but always speaking with us, not at us. Yes, our principal has always been father, counselor, and friend, willing to help when help was needed, en¬ courage when hope was gone, and give sound advice for which we will always be grateful. As the portals of Weaver close behind this gradu¬ ating class, another crop” of grateful students joins the ranks of those who will always re¬ member our principal, Mr. William F. Aitken.
