Mr. William F. Aitken To Mr. William F. Aitken, our beloved prin¬ cipal, the class of 1955 bids a sorrowful and reluctant adieu. During our years at Weaver he has increased our wealth of knowledge and character with his sincerity, good-will, and friendly guidance. His great pride in Weaver and its students has instilled in our hearts an unforgettable fondness for this man who has proven to be more than just a principal. Mr. Aitken has always been an active and interested participant in all Weaver activities, and has easily become one of us Weaverites.” We know that, although we are leaving Weaver behind us, the inspiration which we have received from this capable and skilled leader will continue to be a living testimony of his profound influence upon us.

ture and many happy experiences. On the other hand, we have encountered many storms, trials, and tribulations. However, the intelligent and consid¬ erate cooperation of all concerned has seen us safely through. We have reached the last port of call for the showboat, and the curtain is being rung down on our last performance. Using this analogy as a theme, we of the Portal Board proudly present The Por¬ tal, Weaver High Showboat, 1955. May we always remember the good-will and comradeship of our class. We are very grateful to Mr. Larrabee, our faculty advisor, for his invaluable part in the making of this book. It takes a steady man at the helm to carry the ship through rough waters. — M.R.H. Wow! Mr. Ezra Melrose The light was born where storms enshroud.” Truly Mr. Ezra Melrose, our vice-principal, has been the light which has guided many dis¬ tressed seniors through their journey on the Weaver Showboat. Always on hand to give sound advice, Mr. Melrose has displayed a sincere interest in all Weaver students. He has been a welcome figure at school events, in the receiving lines and at the ticket window, alike. His amiable nature, pleasant disposition, and understanding, along with his progressive ideas, have made Mr. Melrose a combination of friend and teacher that is hard to beat.” i
