We—the class of 1954—bid farewell to one of the most prominent members of Weaver’s faculty, Mr. Ezra Melrose. This popular advisor, with his ever ready smile, has become «a close friend to many. As vice-principal and counselor, Mr. Melrose has shown undying interest in the student body by his work with the Boys’ Club, his presence at all the Weaver games and social activities, and by his tireless efforts in helping many seniors to decide upon their futures. As we leave Mr. Melrose and go our way in life, we shall remember his last message to us: The paths you will travel and the vocations you will choose may vary, but if each of you will make the quest of high ideals the central reason of your life, the world will be closer to attaining true peace and good will.”

Mr. William F. Aitken As the principal of Weaver High School, Mr. Aitken represents unity. Perhaps, the most well liked of our faculty, he always wears a smile. As we look back, his warmth, friendliness, understanding, and sympathy will never be forgotten. Every student at Weaver has a friend in Mr. Aitken. His appearance at all of our functions and his sound advice have proved inspiring to us. He is ever ready to aid Weaver and the student body in forward growth. Consequently, he has done much to make Weaver the fine school it is today. He has always encouraged us to go ahead and to seek the ideals we know and have learned to be right during our school years. As we thumb back through the pages of our high school memories, Mr. Aitken will always stand out, as a guiding example light to Weaver’s graduating class of 1954. TO MEMBERS OF THE SENIOR CLASS: As your class has journeyed through Weaver, we might think of your stay as a great show of many acts with varying talents and contributions from the members of your group. Your faculty, as directors, has worked hard, long and conscientiously for each of you and in your best interests in order that your contribution to the production might be your best. As actors in the play, each of you has shown growth and development and leaves the stage with maturity, social and intellectual growth far beyond what you had when your show opened three years ago. As you graduate, your performance is not over, for you advance from the Weaver undergraduate stage to the larger stage of life as members of the Weaver alumni group. Your directors wish you all success and have high hopes for a fine performance from each of you. QUO FATA VOCANT? —WILLIAM F.
