I can truly say that the staff has tried to keep this Portal the book of the students and to produce what you, the students, would like. However, it would have been an even tougher haul but for the able guidance of Mr. Larrabee and Mr. Cunningham. Theirs and the staff’s was the greatest load, and to them, if any is forthcoming, should go the praise. Those of us on the Board, who are bowing out, leave Weaver with a feeling of regret, for school has been a wonderful experience. We hope, further, that this year’s Portal adequately and last¬ ingly marks the twenty-fifth anniversary of Weaver High School. — K. W.

MR. WILLIAM F. AITKEN DEDICATION During his two years as vice-principal, Mr. Aitken has always represented the ideals of fair play, honesty, good sportsmanship, and clean fun. His deep interest in every phase of school life, whether it be a football game or a history assignment, has won him the admiration and respect of faculty and students alike. Together with his exceptionally tolerant attitude and progressive ideas, Mr. Aitken combines a warm smile, an easy conversational ability, and a vibrant personality which has inspired and will continue to inspire many Weaver students. Not often does one find a person who can handle administrative affairs efficiently and justly while at the same time acting as a friendly advisor. In Mr. Aitken, we have found such a person. He has never been too busy to spare a moment for a personal problem; neither has he been too involved to see that the numerous functions of the school ran smoothly at all times. In recognition of the man who has assumed the duties of principal in this memorable year, the 25th anniversary of the opening of Weaver High School, we, of the anniversary class, dedicate the Portal of 1949 to Mr. William F. Aitken. ■ 7
