The adviser to the group was Mr. Mills. laiiiii l,ltih To give students a better opportunity for learning Roman customs and laws. and to stimulate an interest in the studv of Latin is the purpose ol' the l.atin tluh, Under the presidency of Vivian Inge- brigtsen, and the guiding hand of Miss Bush, the members have had an active year. Pat Donley. secretary. and Tom Bezer, treasurer, helped to make this vear successful. lailitt l,lIlll The years big social event for the Latin club was the annual Roman bancluet held in May. lt was as nearly as possible like those banquets of the ancient Romans. with costumes, wreaths. and slaves, who were really junior high first year students pressed into service, and the traditional courses of eggs to apples. The banquet was attended by the majority of the members, litiaiiitsli Ultih Taking a big part in school functions and assemblies, the Spanish club closed fl very successful year. Drama in the Spanish mode was an outstanding activity of the club, I5 of their 20 members hav- ing been in Hi Jinx. This year's officers included: president. Regular duties included collecting slips. operating the switchboard, and checking attendance. Mrs. Hill directs these assistants. lluunr fimiiizly The torch pin, symbolism of knowl- edge and enlightenment, is worn by sen- iors who have maintained eight points in the grade average as well as two activity points. Upon graduation, seniors who have 5-1 points are permanently awarded the torch pin. The one and two bar pins worn by sophomores and juniors represent the same grade requirement. ... ii Q lirilael lalaizrfs and hellfzrfs In the past years it has been the duty of the ticket takers and sellers to take and sell tickets at athletic meets, dances, and other school functions. At mid- year this organization was disbanded and its duties taken over by a new organiza- tion, the comptroller's squad, under the supervision of Mr. Bartine, faculty ad- viser of student finances. huiiilltfs nl the llllllllill The Knights of the Bobcat, super- vised by Mr. Lamb and captained by jack McDougall, was one of the most vital organizations in our school. Their im- portant services were necessary in the functioning of school dances, assemblies, and athletic contests. Upon their second year of service, boys are awarded Bobcat sweatersg graduating seniors, having served three years are awarded a gold pin.
