Also the tortured rendering of The Old Apple Tree In The Orchard and XY'altz Me Around Again XX'ill-ee, by Brinkley, Hall and Henke . . .. Accompanied by the Hill Nellies . . . . On they progress ..... Taking in their stride, horseshoes, tennis, and basketball .... XX'hen the few sunshiny days of spring appear. potential Helen Moodys and Alice Marbles blossom out at all available tennis courts .... Summer days were made for hik- ing .... But G.A.A. girls do it in spring ,... Witli hightop shoes and knapsacks they traipse the hills and valleys surrounding Grays Harbor .,.. Then comes swimming .... Turnouts four nights each weeks .... Sophs two nights . . . . juniors and seniors the other two. . . Back-stroke, free style, breast stroke, obstacle races, float for distance .... Practice and more practice .... For the first time horseshoes is added to the girls' athletic curriculum .... Broken fingernails .... Sore biceps .... Socks torn and ankles bruised on stakes .... But they .learn to pitch horseshoes .... No one can deny it .... Then after everything is over there comes the awarding of letters .... Those who have earned them may consider it their just reward for hours of hard work and ability shown .... All of the girls can always look back on the hours of hard work and good fun . . . . In spite of bumps and bruises receiv ed it was effort well spent . . . . Those good times will never be forgotten ....
