With a very good first-half effort, the Kangaroos rolled up a 7-7 first-half score with the Longview Loboes on October 5. In the last half, Longview scored on drives of fifty-four and ninety-eight yards to win, 21 to 7. Weatherford's lone tally came on a second-quarter pass from Kelley to Liddell. For their second win, the Kangaroos ran up an 18-O halftime lead and went on to beat Gainesville on October 12. Dickey scored twice on one-yard plunges after drives of nineteen and eighty yards. But the Graham Steers were too much for the Kangaroos, as well as for all the other conference teams, and they later went on to win District. November 2, the Kangaroos played host to the Brownwood Lions. Going into the game slight favorites, the Lions really showed their power by walloping the Kangaroos 48 to 13. Dickey and Dobbins scored the two touchdowns for'the Kangaroos, with Bob Eason adding the PAT. After an opening kick-off touchdown by Vernon, the Kangaroos rushed back to post a 20-13 victory over the Lions on November 9.
