Do you ever wonder what i in the trunk of a student driver car? His and Hers sophomore wheels. Riding your bike down to Wayzata Beach used to be cool. Now when you sec someone riding his bike you laugh a bit and nostalgically reminisce about the carefree junior high days before you got your license. Now. driving is cool, biking ISN'TII Of course you remember the first time you drove a car by yourself. You were cool. You were very cautious. You put your hands in the correct position, turned corners using the hand-over-hand method, and you did as your parents constantly reminded youi Wear your seat bell and watch out for the other guy.....Be carefull After you had your license for a day or two. you set out to find the limits of the car. How fast does it go?” Will the tires squeal if I turn fast enough? Can I drive one handed? Consequently, you drive in a reclining position, with one hand on the wheel and one on the radio as you cruise down the road feeling cool, looking cool, and above all. driving cool. As a veteran of the road, you drive places where other people are so they can see how cool you arel This phase lasts a few weeks, but then wears off because now it’s cool to pretend that you drive so much that you're sick of it. Suddenly, you realize that being cool is not so cool because you end up driving everyone everywhere. When you do drive, you pretend that it's not that big a deal because cod people don't get excited about things like driving. Yes. driving is an education on being cool. Permits are cool at firsti then it’s the mega-cool licensei then you think you're the ultimate cool When showing your friends the license testing map. and. for some of you. being cool is getting that first speeding ticket. No matter how cool you are. you swear you will never, ever, drive like mom and dad drive. But you will because pretending to be safe is the next cool thing to do.
