Bill Koski. guidance counselor, and Bob Miggins. business teacher, had an important positive influence on this school. The two of them have taught all of us a great deal about how to live. Bill and Bob were both known for their caring and loving regard for others. They touched many lives through this sympathetic concern. They also shared the ability to lau i at themselves and at the world when it began to take itself too seriously. Their laughter was infectious and as it spread, it relieved tensions for us all. They celebrated life by plunging into all they did with vigor and enthusiasm. We each carry special memories of Bill and Bob. These may be a school joke, a private moment, a shared experience or a pat on the back, but whatever they are. they serve as a reminder that as Bill said. Life is fragile. Enjoy each other while you can. Our lives have been enhanced by the lives of Bill Koski. and Bob Miggins. Kob Miggins 1939-1985 Anything Goes! Tom Daugheny. Wayako ’85 For those of you that don’t know what Wayako means, it is an Indian word that means a story told through pictures. This year’s yearbook, we think, does just that. It shows not only the trials and tribulations, but also the joy and excitement of what being a student at Wayzata is all about. Because the yearbook is a very memorable part of a student's life, this year's Wayako staff has worked very hard. I hope you all enjoy it. Sarah Creed Editor-in-Chief. The Trojan Tribune staff learned about two things this year: responsibility and enjoyment. As a newspaper, it was our job to present the issues and controversies concerning the levy referendum and the school board accurately and objectively for the WHS staff and students. Moreover, the community was faced with the tragic loss of two vital and well respected members of the faculty. Bill Koski and Bob Miggins. The Trojan Tribune staff handled these and many other issues with responsible concern. It was a year for responsibility, but it was also a year for fun. We learned this while making an effort to seek out and represent every group in the school. We each gained a new perspective and understanding of what goes on at WHS: we also made a few new friends. Through the publication of the Trojan Tribune, the staff and the readers learned about school and about themselves. The Marching Band Fearless leader Chip Williams What would football games be without the marching band? This year the band was at its best, adding their own special spirit to so many school activities. Under the direction of Mr. Chip Williams, and their new assistant director, Mr. Mark Sloniker. the band played at the football games, pep fests, and parades. Another exciting addition this year was Beth Pollard, who did a fantastic job as the band’s baton twirler. Drum Majors Julie Nelson and Jim Hebeisen did a super job of organizing band activities and helping both directors. Jim and Julie put in a lot of time to make everything run smoothly. Both wish to thank the band for all of their help and energy. Marching Band: Row 1: Carolyn Berst, Dave Hill. Robin Krueger. Steve Stormo. Maia Segura. Julie Nelson. Steve Hegele. Jim Hebeisen. The invitation stated that Wayzata was chosen to perform “because of its reputation for excellence.” The string orchestra, under the direction of Barbara Molinare. consists of seventy-five students from both the senior high and the two junior high schools. In addition to performing at the Vienna Festival, the orchestra plans to perform at old churches and castles in the surrounding areas. We conserved our energy and built our strength with that end in mind, but it was not to be our year. We still say we are very pleased with our season. We offered our opponents good competition and we improved. The team consisting of eight juniors, eleven seniors, and one freshman, never seemed to be able to put together the right combination on the field. The final season record was not an indication of the quality of the team's play. Out of a record of 4-8-3, five losses were by only one goal. The Trojan defense played consistently well throughout the season. Although the season didn't hold the glamour of the past season, a winning attitude was held by the entire team through all the practices and games and this should be attributed to the time and effort of Coach Tom Snicker. 70 Scott Horst gets down tor Wayzata's defense. A package deal! Can handle almost anything; after all, they did survive their sophomore year. This class is full of spirit and laughter despite the incredible mental strain which they are forced to endure. This is the crucial year which can predict their future. Therefore, they can be persuaded into paying attention in class, studying, and even doing homework. Working hours range from 8:00a.m. to 1:00p.m. Many thrive on school involvement and will join as many extra-curricular activities as possible. Others derive pleasure from over-adequate amounts of sleep, and still others actually enjoy going to school. They must have weekends off with an occasional allowance for zoning in and out on Mondays. Vacations are a must. Time off will be used to practice the nuances of senior savoir faire. These include the perfect smile for senior pictures and the self confident hall stroll. There is definite variety in this group, yet they do have one thing in common, and that's their class spirit. They have been heard chanting. His love for life and his sincere caring for others were two of the finer traits Craig possessed. Craig’s ability to insure trust and caring drew many close to him. He has left us with fine memories. We shall miss Craig's smile and gentle ways, but greater yet. we shall miss the loss of a friend. 186 Through her struggle with leukemia. Katie learned to live each day to the fullest. She was determined to do the things that meant the most to her and to appreciate all that life had to offer. She loved school and being with her friends. Her biggest wishes were to go to junior high and to live to be thirteen years old. She was able to complete the fall quarter of 7th grade. Katie touched a lot of lives and was very special to many people. Her kindness. smile, and zest for life will remain in our memories forever. We miss you. Katie. Katie Hageboeck 1966 - 1979 A Special Tribute To Mike And Katie Michael outtgren 1967 - 1981 Mike would have been a member of the class of 1985. For some of us who knew him well he will always be a part of our class. Mike died July 19. 1981, as a result of an accident. His life to that time was one that brought a sense of happiness to all of his friends. He made you feel good about yourself and appreciate each day. We remember Michael now and pay him tribute.
