' 25 The Waynoka school system ««as very fortunate to be the temporary home of two outstanding young men. I Aits Rafael Montanaro Sanchez and Svein E. Wilvang. foreign exhange students, enriched our live by living in our community and attending Way noka High School. Eighteen year old Luis came to Waynoka from Mexico. His parents are Hector M. Monlanaro and Sofia San- chez de Monlanaro. Luis has one brother and t«vo sisters. He decided to be an exchange student in order to gel away, to visit new places, and meet new people. He also wanted to experience life in another country. While at Waynoka he participated in football, the all-school play, basketball, journalism and was a member of the Waynoka Academic Bowl Team. He also graduated as an honor student and was high point individual of the academic bowl team. Luis plans on at- tending college in Mexico and majoring in Mechanical Engineering. His hoslparent for this school year was Robert Clapper. Svein is an 18 year old from Norway. His parents are Olav J. and Crete S. Wilvang. He has two brothers, one of whom was also an exchange student in the U.S. While Svein was here he par- ticipated in football (a new sport for him), the all-school play, track, and was a member of the academic bowl team. He also graduated with honors. Svein said that his future plans in- clude going back to Norway and finishing high school. After that he has to go into the military for 16 months. After completing his military training he plans to attend college in Norway and study economics. Svein decided to be an exchange stu- dent when his brother told him that it was great being here. Svein also was curious about life in the U.S. When asked if he had anything he wanted to say, he said “I want to give a special thanks to the teachers for all their help. ' He will also miss his hostparents. John and Becky Parker. Exchange students add a sparkle to the school year Svein and Luis at the prom. 26 Seniors do a cheer at an assembly. And as always Luis and Svein lend their support. Fourth down and Svein. Varisty Football Whenever the Railroaders were in fourth down and long yardage situation. Coach Scott Kysar would send in foreign exchange student, Svein Wilvang to kick the ball. He came into the game of football with little or no knowledge of the game. However, his experience as a soccer player helped him with his kick- ing game. He along with other outstanding Railroader players added a great deal to Waynoka's game of football.
