The science room was moved to the high school building and five new Chemistry lockers ofthe latest type were installed. In addition to the lockers an instructors demonstration desk and a hood which is used to get rid of poisonous fumes was placed in the west end of the laboratory. New chemicals and glassware were purchased so that the thirty--four students who are enrolled are able to do all the experiments which are necessary for a well rounded course in Chemistry. The forty one Biology students make use of this equipment during the periods when the Chemistry students are in other classes. Both classes have two days of laboratory during every week. Many honors were won during the season as our team came through with First place in both the North- west Conference and the North Canadian Conference. We were also proud of the fourth place trophy won in the tough class A tournament at Southwestern. Leading the team in scoring was Max Shuck with 620 points. Dale Briggs counted 410, Lewis Helfenbein had 175, Bill Lancaster 167, Allen Miller 119, Don Briggs 52 and Phil Lewis 46. Bill Lancaster was the elected Captain of the team and crowned Miss Norma Hannafious in the homecoming game with Mooreland. High point of the season came when Waynoka was host to the Regional Tournament and won it with wins over Garber, Wakita and Laverne. The team scored 1610 points to our opponents 1190. FUTURE F RMERS OF AMERICA F.F.A. is designed to supplement the technical and practical training the boys receive in classroom instruction along with project activities carried on at the home farm under the instructor's supervision. It is a channel through which farm boys exhibit their projects and match their skills against other F. F,A. members. They learn to speak in public, assume public and civic responsibilities, buy and sell cooperatively, and to solve their own problems and inances. The Waynoka F.F.A. Chapter has 48 members. At the present time this group owns an investment of over 348, 000 in livestock, land, crops, and equipment. Four Senior members are applying for the degree of Ir. Master Farmer. They must rank in the upper 2010 of all Vocational Agriculture students in Oklahoma. Activities participated in during 1957 -58 include exhibition of livestock and judging teams at state fairs and I Jimmie Kragh, Gale Percival, Jr. Simmons, and Bob Payne. In August, the executive commit- tee of our F.H.A. Chapter attended a district meeting in Enid to plan the F. H.A. Work for the year. 'I'he Future Homemakers have a group of goals they try to reach. These include a family night program, plan- ning and delivering food baskets, and participating in a clothing drive, and having speakers who have traveled and studied abroad. The highlight of the year is our trip to Oklahoma City where the state F.H.A. Rally is held. There we at- tend a meeting consisting of talks by the Governor, a special speaker, and the installation of state officers. The Eight Purposes of F.H,A, are: 1. To Promote a growing appre- ciation of the joys and satis- factions of homema king. 2. To Emphasize the importance of wortl1y home membership. 3. To encourage democracy in home and community life. 4. To work for good home and family life for all. 5. To promote international good will. 6. To foster the development of creative leadership in home and community life. 7. To provide wholesome individ- ual and group recreation. 8. To further interest in Home Economics. 1 P PER STAFF ROW 1: Myrtle Crusinberry, Joyce Rauch, Carolyn Starbuck, Sandie Barker.
