G E In the autumn of 1925 there entered upon the straight and narrow E U pathway of knowledge thirty students all striving to reach the Golden 6 ' Gate which they might enter at the close of four years of hard mental labor n Those who began this long iourney were: Eula June Ball Thelma Bernice Biddle Lois Blankenship Ethel Elizabeth Collins Dax 1d Cooper Maurice D Cowan Mildred Louise Eskew Fannie Forrest Francis Lucile Glover Helen Irene Gienard Helen Louise Croxes Hildred Haas Ethel Marie Harshbarger June Lyons Inez Wlellssa Keller Cornelia Imogene Logan Ernest Raisor Juanita McKinney Orpha Blanche Pierce Glenn Bunnell Rn ers Maurice Rusk Ralph Skaggs Russell Smith Thelma Vu ian Smith Eula Pauline Switzer Hai rv Thompson Pauline Waters and Dorothy Weaver These students organized a group known as the Freshman Class A very brilliant group of students indeed No one would have thought by looking at them that they were freshmen for this class was exceptional each one s mind being trained ready to grasp all new ideas They selected Cornelia Imogene Logan for their honored president for they thought her like Peter to have great ability as a leader Maurice D Cowan vice presi dent Eula Pauline Switzei secretary and treasurer and Clifford Davis sponsor They chose pink and white as their class colors pink and white sweet pea for their flower and their motto which ther have followed throughout their iourrey Honor Lies at the Gates of Labor Mr Davis assisted the class in making sex eral important decisions during the time he was with them on the iourneg. and as a reward he recen ed a Christmas gift from the entire group Francis Lucile Glover left our midst in February and entered Craw fordsville High School but along came Mary Wlntress McCarty of New Market seeking admission into the group A maiority welcomed her gladly as their schoolmate in the primary class the others were glad to make a new acquaintance One of their number Thelma Vix ian Smith chose to bring honor to the group and did so by winning first prize in the County Declamatory Contest , , This group enioyed themselx es at a Hallowe en party at the home of Thelma Bernice Biddle November the seventh All came masked and Orpha Blanche Pierce and Mildred Louise Eskew won prizes for the most comical masked A large per cent were present including the sponsor Mr Davis Exeryone present had a very delightful time especially before they un masked The second gathering was April tw elfth at the home of their president Miss Logan The idea of Easter was carrled out in the decoration menu K ty t BNB -nw L Veena m m 5 91 ni 3 gg 'AL I 1,411 4 'Il Y r I ' ' E I T , , V , E U . , .
