Here is how they earn their letter. In football, underclassmen must have 21 quar- ters and seniors, ii quarters. Basketball boys must have the total number of quarters. Forensics has gone for this year but its dubious if it would have had it not been for its talented and in- terested sponsor Miss Hieftie. The biggest proiect that the club has un- dertaken for some time was completed this year. That was the redecoration of the base- ment of the Home Ec cottage. The members of the club felt that such a proiect would be beneficial not only to them as a meeting place and a room to teach crafts but the rest of the school and community. The proiect met with the heartfelt approval of those outside the club and will serve many purposes in the years to come. Here we have a group of stu- dents called Home Room Representatives work- ing on a program for our noon hour activities. So far our activities to date have been softball, German baseball, and girls basketball held in the auditorium during the school year and sometimes during the summer months. They are on hand at such affairs as the min- strel, spring concerts, kirmiss, all plays, and each year they are honored to usher at the Mother's program in the Opera House. The study of trees, wildflowers, birds, minerals and Indian relics are studied during the time when the Club is in session. Nature study is not a required subiect, therefore, it is taken by those students who are interested in Nature. Everyone has an equal chance to earn his letter by turning in a project. The letter is a black W with a red cardinal in the center. When the weather conditions permit the Study Club takes various field trips. The group ex- pects to enter the Nature Study contests at Waynesburg College and at the Carnegie Museum in Pittsburgh. Kowling C7116 This year marks the second in the life of the bowling club of W. H. S. Last year it was in its beginning stages and by this year the members really had the ball rolling. Although it is a young organization, the mem- bers derive genuine pleasure trom the sport and we will have to admit the experience pro- duced many expert bowlers Cand gave sore thumbs to many morel. The club is comprised of thirty-six mem- bers, who are divided into tour teams. Two teams bowl at a time and they meet once every two weeks for a session. The obiect is not in- dividual competition, but each team trying to acquire more points than the other, there- fore creating competitive teams. Perhaps one of the busuest clubs un the hugh school us the Photography Club under the durectuon of Mrs Martun for uts dutues are many and varued lts members may be found at work not only durung the school day but also at the varuous socual functuons at the hugh school or audung the P T A un theur efforts to rause money The Photography Club runs the movue prolector for class room movues durung the day and at nught takes charge of the phono graphs and records for the sweater hops Thus year the P T A has been sponsorung a serues of Saturday mornung movues for chuldren and uhe members of the Photography Club have been runnung the fllm For these servuces un and outsude the school the club receuves a small amount of money and ut qoes to buy equupment At pres ent the club owns a fllm pack camera a movue camera and last year purchased a 35 mm The members also contrubuted to the fund to purchase a movue prolector whuch was started by the P T A Thus year the members have learned how to operate several new pueces of equupment whuch were provuded by the P T A and the state and federal government Thus equup ment included a fllm strip and an opaque projector besides several others.
