XY4- soon found the reasonsthe upper-elassnien were stnnibling and groping: in unknown regions too. This elass of '32 had the marked distinction of being: the Hrst freslnnan elass to enter the portals of llargaret Bell Miller High Fehool. To this the elass of '32 lays one eanse for its suprelnaeyvthe reason why we have risen to heights tar above that of preceding classes. After a few months, however. the upper-elassnien seeniecl to have regained their equilibrium and were in fine shape for their artistry whit-h used our fares as eanvasses. The higher-ups deigning to take still further notic-e of ns. deeideal to give ns a break, so they held a Freshman Rec-eption. But, alas. the naine was only an exense, everyone had a good time but the Freshmen. Many are still wondering about that green ribbon. whether it was for St. l'atric-k's Day or left from Vhrist- IUHS. IIIS'l'0ltY OF TIII-I FLXSS OF '32 Cl0l1fl.II?ll'CI This year we elec-ted Helen lleever president. Fred f'ummings viee president, James lilliott seeretary. and James Seott treasurer. liven at this early day we found our stride. Dorothy Titus won the first plaee in piano in both the sr-hool and in the eountyg and Beulah lloore took first plaee in the reading eontest. Our elass pulled the surprise of' the year and took over the ehampionship in elass basketball. This was the first time in years that a freshman team has aeeomplished this feat. ln our see-ond year we eame into our own. Struggling through geometry we had enough strength left to put two debaters Bob Strosnider and Franc-es Ingh- ram on the platform. fatty-1-il, Fisher. Nlorris. and fireeo represented us in the athletie field. Also the fiirl's flass basketball team took first plaee in the sehool. The Charm Fr-hool east elaimed many of' our elass, six in number. Our skill was also needed in the journalistie line, James Sr-ott and James Green- lee being on the staff. In the third year. we were high in what Miss Faddis termed sophistoeation. This year the Republieans were in power and they elected Samuel Gifford, president: Ralph Fisher. viee president: Marion Valvert. secretary: and Judson liell. treasurer. This year we were again well represented in both the high sehool play and the operetta. In the play Klan or Blouse the heroine. villian. and comedian eame from our 4-lass. While in the operetta, The Vount and The Vo-Ed, we were also well represented. Robert Strosnider again took honors in debate. Uur girl's elass team. this year. again took first plaee in basketball. Our athletes developed into real varsity men this year in both the basketball and football teams, Notwithstanding the time taken up by soeial activities we ean eall this a very sueeessful year for we had a large mnnber on every honor roll. This was the year of the great ehange. Fr-hool started earlier. Our elass took good eare to keep ahead in tardiness but at that the seniors beat us. In the last seene of all that ends this strange eventful liistoryffdolft follow the quotation too fart we reaehed the pinnaele of knowledge and aeeomplishment. ln seholastie standing Robert Strosnider. Evelyn Dunn. and Louise Brooks are outstanding: in debate Robert Strosnider, Fred Vummings, and James Seott, earried through: and in athleties Fisher. Greeo, J. Greenlee, Ames. Eliot. and Nlorris took a leading part. ln journalistie work we were well represented: fharles Knox being editor of the sehool paper and .ludson Bell of the year book. .X large majority of the staffs of the two was also made from this elass. This elass of YH. 104 in number having eompleted four years of study and aeeom- plishment as reeorded above, do hereby hope that sueeeeding classes may rise to even greater heights.
