Following a traditional WSTC custom that ex- tends back some 25 years, each year just be- fore Thanksgiving girls in the physical education classes present a harvest pageant under the direc- tion of Mrs. Esther Carl- son. Members of the dramotics department, under the direction of Dr. Dorothy Selz, presented three one-act plays in the student union in mid-November. Using the theatre-in-the-round techinque, spectators became part of ,the act- ing area. Page 24 Sherrie Dalton holds a hand- kerchief over what was voted the scantiest costume at the annual Sadie Hawkins dance sponsored by the Goldenrod. On the right, general chairman Chris Cross acted as Marryin' Sam throughout the evening, giving away marriage certifi- cates. The Goldenrod sponsored event featured the crowning of Wayne Kurpjuweit and Kelley Jannsen as king and queen of Dogpatch. Here the royal couple are seated in the spacious throne room of the1r newly acquired castle. As per usual, Dick Glidden and Clarice Nelson walked away with top honors in the iitterbug contest. Music for the evening was furnished by the Trend Trio.

More than 200 musicians participated in Wayne s nineteenth annual presentation of Hondel's The Messiah The oratorno sponsored by Wayne Kiwanis club included the l65 voice WSTC choir and a 50-piece orchestra. Soloists for the annual Christmas pageant included Don Schuler, John Bowen, Mrs. William Hasebroock, Da V Lee Johnson, Jean Austin, Mike Johnson, Clarice Nel- son, Delane Dalton and Jerry Pugsley. Russell Anderson, chairman of fine arts, directed the choir and Benjamin Bern- stein led the orchestra.
