Conn Library. Construction on the new li- brary started in the spring of 1955 and the corner-stone was laid by members of the State Normal Board at the start of the 1955-56 fall term. Workers for the State, some of them students, complete the delivery of the last of some 50,000 books from the old library to the new structure, in time for the fall session. Page 10 Sophia Porter, Bassett senior, is named recipient of the Wayne Women's Club Scholar- ship for the first semester of the 1956-57 school year. A scholarship is provided each semester. The scholarships are limited to residents of char- acter, scholarship and financial need. The Victor P. Morey Memorial Scholarship is awarded to Joe Konopik, Beemer senior. Dr. Morey was president of Wayne State from 1946 to 1951. A minimum grade average of 1.5 is required for a student to be eligible tor the scholarship, which is awarded on the basis of character, scholastic ability and financial need. Tuition is paid for by the award.

The first WSTC football migration of the school year, spon- sored by the student council, ended the second week of orien- tation activity. Ap- proximately l5O Stat- ers made the trek to Sioux Falls, S. D., to see the Wildcats in action against Augus- tana. Page I2 Freshman failing to comply with student council rules and the va- rious phases of freshman orienta- tion interrogation are compelled to appear before student court.
