T' I' Q K gk ,f if . 0 f 'N A J .K- The Seniors of 1957 started their upward journey to the planet, Pluto, with a crew of eight on board--Joyce Ingle, Maxine Wantz, Charles Williamson, Jim Peacock, Peggy Frazier, DuWayne Dodd, Bill Thornburg and Margaret Mote joined Jim Smith in the First Grade with our pilot Miss Platt. DuWayne Dodd left our flight in the Third Grade at station Me Kinley on planet Venus. During our fifth year, we stopped for refueling on Mercury and DuWayne boarded our ship again before we left on our skyward climb. Janice Schultz joined our crew in the Sixth Grade on planet Mars and the next stop was station Jackson, Ohio, on planet Saturn where we added Shirley Brewer the next year. Just as our flight was nearing its first destination, that of its twelfth year, we had a couple of changes in our crew members. Janice Schultz transferred to Rocket West Side but we added Tom Powers from station Van Nuys, California, planet Earth. The planet Pluto is now within reach, but we intend to still higher climb into the universe in separate rocket ships. x' , .0 u SENIOR CLASS 4. ,, PRQPHE Y U ' - ff XY As we were walking down the midway of the 1967 State Fair, we spotted a group of children led by someone who looked familiar. Guess who7 QMissJ Margaret Mote. We noticed her students were all dressed in striped garments. Margaret explained that she had been promoted to head of the McKnut Reformatory. Chained together, the students were behaving very nicely on their educational tour of the midway. Reaching the grandstandf we noticed a big sign, saying Join the Navy . We walked inside to pick up any free information they might have. Much to our surprise there stood DuWayne Dodd passing out pamphlets. I-le told us about his exciting career in the Navy. We were glad to hear about his recent promotion to Captain of a United States destroyer. Since the radio station was next door, we decided to go see a radio program. Inside, we met Tom Powers, who was the president of station WHS. He was dictating to his secretary, the former Peggy Frazier. They seemed very busy, so we hurried on. Scurrying out of the building, we ran into Joyce flnglej Mangas and her husband, Phil, We talked about the times we had back at old Wayne High. We noticed that Phil had three leather straps in his hand. He tugged on them gently and there appeared the sweet little Mangas triplets, wearing their harnesses. We wished her luck in the future and were on our way again. We heard the Motorama show being announced over the loud speaker. It started in five minutes and it rushed us to get there in time to see the latest models in sport cars. We were surprised to see that the attraction of the show was the Thornburg Special, designed and owned by Bill Thornburg. It made us feel very proud to see that he was doing so well. Glancing at our watches we discovered it was lunch time, Sitting at a table in the Grandstand Cafe, we noticed three men across the aisle from us, They were Charles Williamson, contractor of the 1967 Ideal Dream Home, Jim Smith, bronc-buster: and Jim Peacock, grower of the seedless tomato. We chatted with them for an hour after lunch, Charles was still single but Jim Smith and Jim Peacock were married. Jim and Karen Smith moved around with the rodeo most of the time. Jim Peacock and his wife and three children lived on a farm near Bartonia, Indiana. Realizing our long journey ahead we decided to start home. I guess we were in too big a hurry because on the way home we had a slight accident. We were immediately taken to the hospital in Anderson, Indiana, for medical care. We enjoyed our stay in the hospital for we were cared for by our old friends Shirley Brewer and Maxine Wantz. Shirley, Melvin Jay and family are living in Muncie. Maxine and her husband, the head physician, were residing in Anderson. After we were released from the hospital, we decided it was worth it all to get to see all of our old friends in the Class of 1957 and to see they had all prospered since their memorable graduation ten years before from dear 'ol Wayne.
