The National Thespian Society was established in the spring of 1929 by a group of teachers and students interested in the advancement of dramaticlarts in High Schools. ' The aims of the Society are: Ill to establish and promote standards of excellence in all phases of dramatic arts, and C21 to create an active and intelligent interest.in dramatic arts among students. It is an honorary organization only in the sense that students are given recognition. The motto of our Society is, ACT WELL YOUR PART: THERE ALL THE HONOR LIES. Our Wayne High Thespian Troup No. 48 has increased to 30 members this year. Officers of the club are Barbara Larsen, presidentg ,Ioan Pawelski, vice president, Gloria Ahlvers, secretary, Larry Johnson, treasurerg Sondra Haas, clerk. Sponsor of the group is Miss Ross. Amcng the activities sponsored by Thespians this year was a Christman Formal held in the High School Gym December 22. Two one-act plays, Make Room for Rodney and Herbie Makes the Team, and a humorous reading, The Raft, were presented at the time of the initiation on February 22 in the Wayne City Auditorium. This program was open to the public. Local Declam was held March 2. Thespian members also took part in junior and Senior Class Plays. . A person who wishes to become a Thespian member is a pledge until he has earned ten points which may be acquired by being in plays, giving a reading, or having a major part in a three-act play. -SSM
