Absent: Donnie Skeahan, .fgfuclsnf Uounci The Student Council is one of the most prominent organizations ever founded in Wayne High. It was organized in 1939 and since then has been of constant service to the faculty and students. The purpose of the Student Council is to furnish citizenship training, to give students an opportunity to participate in school activities, to provide an oppor- tunity for pupils' self-expression, organize effectively for school activities, to improve attitudes and behavior of students, to provide means for the develop- ment of leadership qualities, to provide a means for the orderly conduction of various campaigns, and to charter new organizations. Every class and organization is represented in the Student Council, which conducts its meetings under the guidance of a faculty sponsor. The Council has the Constitutional power to review their meetings in accordance with their constitution. If they do not they are disbanded. All student problems are referred to the Student Council and their decisions are considered final if approved by the administration. Wayne High Student Council affiliated with The Nebraska Association of Student Councils in October, 1951. Those attending the State Convention at Grand Island, October 6, were Barbara Buehner, Ioan Nelson, Elaine Otte, Bobby Sieckman, Don Skeahan, and Mr. Rickers. The officers are as follows: president, David Meyerp vice president, Marjorie Dorman: secretary, Ioan Nelson: and treasurer, Elaine Otte. The sponsor 'of the group is Mr. Rickers. . ,321

Musicians from surrounding Wlce G Wee ' I ' towns and a guest conductor helped to make it successful. The Orchestra helped entertain the night of the Iumor Class The Qrchestm also plcys G large pcm in the gmducmo Gere- Play. It also traveled to Norfolk at the time of the District monies.
