At the season's end the Lincoln Star and Iournal rated Wayne High tenth of all Class B clubs in the state. They went through an 8 game season undefeated, only to lose to Oakland 14-6 in the Husker Conference play-off. ln this game the Blue Devils played their best game of the year, but the breaks didn't come their Way. They outdowned the Oakland eleven 16 to 5 and outgained them 278 to 212 in total yardage. As one fan said, l don't see how a team could play such good ball and still lose the game. During the regular season Wayne score 222 points to their opponents 32. Team play was the main factor in all the games as no one player dominated the play during the season. V The scoring which was evenly divided is as follows: Meyer 62, Granqvist 38, Palmer 31, D. Atkins 30, Skeahan 24, Tietsort 24, Henegar 13, I. Atkins 6.
